We have no chance of 4th

Spurs would need to have a serious collapse which is not going to happen as they are in top form at the moment.

Haha. Like your optimism. Agree with most of it though I'd be pleasantly surprised to see us win at Newcastle.

i don't see why we couldn't win there but yes there is a liberal sprinkling of optimism in my predictions based on current form and team availability.

One thing in our favour is that we only have to focus on the league.

Get Carra to do Bale next weekend and that will be the end of Spurs challenge.

Haha good effort putting that together.

For us to get 4th, we need to win 10 from 10....which we won't.

We will prob beat spurs, get everyone excited, and then have a howler against Southampton.

I think we can finish above Everton. But I think that West Brom defeat may cost us a serious push at 4th.

I think fourth is just out of reach this season. I would have taken sixth or seventh before the season started (as long as progress could be seen on the pitch) and I'm now going to hope for sixth and to finish above Everton.

I would be very happy with that.

I think it just shows how hard it is for us to finish 4th now and how costly certain games have been for us. Not taking advantage in the games against Arsenal and City, even just in one of those games would have been massive. West Brom at home, missed penalty and to naive to see it out with a point, at least.

Keep Suarez and next year I think we'll be right in the mix.

IMO Rodgers biggest mistake this season is that he played key players in the EL. We shouldn't cared about that cup at all. Players like Gerrard, Suarez, Reina, Agger, Lucas, Johnson and Enrique shouldn't played a single minut in the EL.

Don't forget the daylight robbery v Everton.

However, considering we had our worst start in 236464732 years or whatever it was, as was continually pointed out by some people earlier in the season, it demonstrates that we have really improved as time has gone on. Sure there have been a few games we've failed to close out or even just not performed in, but with such a young and developing side that was always going to be the case.

I agree with Muddled, 4th was always going to be a stretch this year, but if we can push on over the last 10 games and finish above Everton in 6th with ~60 points I'd think there would be plenty of reason to be optimistic going forward
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.

Rodgers was appointed very late. He didn't got enough time to get everything right in that short time. That is why I question very much why he played key players in the EL.

He should have played a B team and used the time to train the A team instead. If he played the best team in the EL his second season after having a full summer to set up the team then it wouldn't be a problem.

I have no qualms with Rodgers playing key players in the Europa League; whilst it would have been nice to secure progress early on and *then* rest them, I like it that Rodgers took the competition seriously and used these extra games to hammer home his tactics.

Perhaps we are currently reaping the rewards of a team that has had game time to gel? Long runs in the cup competitions may have had a detrimental affect, but those extra ten games or so, may be the reason we're beginning to look like we've found our feet.
