Hearts (a) - Reina, Robinson, Carra, Agger, Kelly, Henderson, Adam, Spearing, Shelvey, Sterling, Borini

Young Boys (a) - Jones, Enrique, Carra, Coates, Wisdom, Sahin, Henderson, Suso, Assaidi, Pacheco, Downing

Anzi (a) - Jones, Flannagan, Carra, Coates, Wisdom, Henderson, Cole, Coady, Shelvey, Downing, Morgan

    Need I carry on?

Out of interest, how would he be "training the A team" while away with the "B team" playing matches in Europe?

Some? LOL. 28 points out of 30? Seriously dude. What with this thread and the one about winning the league next year

This is the problem with our fanbase at the moment imo. We have a couple of good wins and we're world beaters. Then we lose, which we may well do to Spurs next weekend, and the sky falls in; Rodgers is ****, Allen is the devil and don't even get me started about FSG. Etc etc etc. Both positions are quite reactionary and frankly a bit silly.

We are not going to finish with 70 points. If we make it to anything over 60 we've done well considering our position after the first 1/4 of the season. And we are not going to get top 4. Can't we just enjoy good performances and take hope for the future while keeping a tiny bit of a sensible check on immediate expectations?

Obviously, any manager at this level worth his salt should invest in a cloning machine

Sorry but you're being a miserable cunt mate. I spent a good 20 minutes to have some fun and work out some optimistic results and what would happen if we did somehow pull it off. I haven't said we're **** and Rodgers should be sacked if we don't achieve it.

Surely I've set the premise of my post with the word optimistic which you even picked up on.

If you don't want to contribute anything positive to a positive (and optimistic) post then kindly set up a separate thread named "Upcoming fixtures and realistic outcomes" and have us finish 6th or 7th.

I'll duly come in and take a **** on your thread too.

Why does a contribution *have* to be positive or optimistic? Can't folk be realistic or constructive?

It's like setting up a thread about how you fired your entire workforce and then asking for it to be deleted when people don't virtually high-five you for your actions, but actually question your judgement; a wide variety of opinion will make for a better debate - you certainly can't ask for only 'good things' to be posted in your thread.

Dude, I'm sorry you took all that time, but attempting to accurately predict the results for a bunch of teams between now and the end of the season, putting us on a run of form that bears no relationship to our form over the entire rest of the year (or even in the last couple of months), while at the same time under representing the form of every other competing team, is, frankly, a bit of a waste of time and on a discussion forum I'm entirely entitled to point that out. And I've been one of the most consistently positive posters on this whole flipping site about our side this season

You really think we're going to take 28 points from 10 games and finish 4th. Really? That's not optimism imo, its a complete lack of realism that achieves nothing, indeed in my opinion it actually contributes to the over excessive wailing and gnashing of teeth we read on here as a result of the odd loss.

What're you suggesting, the only posts allowed in this thread are ones that completely agree with your exaggeratedly optimistic assessment?

Anything is possible in football MrM.

No one on this site would bet serious money on the outcome of us finishing 4th. In true Est fashion the dream could be over by next week.

But is it beyond the realms of possibility that Spurs don't win today and we turn them over at Anfield next week?

No it's not. And if that happens, then this thread could be looked at in a more serious light.

We need two out of three teams to slip up. More importantly, we need a ridiculous effort from our own team.
                  Forwards.......

No it sounded like I was being called an idiot for being optimistic. It was just a bit of fun. I realise that there's little chance of getting near maximum points hence the 'possible' outcomes and the 'optimistic' tag.

As for the second item, not once did I say I'd fired them and in fact I didn't. I was venting and saying I wanted to. I wanted it gone because I realised that it was right to discuss a matter like that in a public forum.

So I didn't ask for it to be deleted for the reason you state. There was no chance of explaining the team dynamic to you which then led to my dismay and confusion over their leaving. I have the full Skype conversations between them both and to me which would give you a clearer picture but I can't really show you that can I?

So let's just leave that now as there's no way I can explain the situation further.

You're just being a dullard mate. If you don't like the optimism then don't post. Simples. I'm sure it's a line you've used on many an occasion directed at the very negative posters (and eventually banned ones).

No I ****ing don't think so to be honest but let's just shut the **** up and look forward to 6th place. Do you lot tune in or pay to watch Liverpool to enjoy a loss or a draw? No you'd love a win and why that's not realistic every single time sometimes form turns on it's head and if it does you'll look like a cunt.

No I don't but I don't like posts that attack the person for being overly optimistic to the point that it will lead to ruined expectations and mass depression.

N, its not impossible Danny. But it is extremely unlikely. And as I said above, I do think excessive over positivity is almost as damaging as excessive negativity. I've hated it in here this season when people have been using every possible stick to beat the current management with, mostly based on preconceived notions of what a LFC manager should be and some sense of divine right to success (or so it feels). But I also find it difficult to be entirely on board with posts / threads that take optimism to what I believe is an excessive level.

If Spurs lose today then they will be 9 points ahead of us, Chelsea 10 and Arsenal 8 with only 10 games left. I wouldn't consider that to be "on". And although our team is getting better both in style and in results, we still haven't beaten one of the top 6 yet this season. I really think we're developing into something good, but we also have issues at the back and have been very patchy in form terms over the entire year. I will be utterly amazed if we don't randomly lose at least one of our last 10 games.

Nowhere in any thread has MrM called you an idiot, you just took it personally and threw your toys out of the pram. Let's face it, even if he had called you an idiot, your retaliated by calling him a 'cunt' and telling him to '**** off' which is a tad extreme to somebody balancing out an overly optimistic post.

And not to fart on your cornflakes - as you clearly went to some length to get your thread up and running - but what kind of replies did you expect if you only wanted people to agree with your optimisim?

                          'Yaaay, fourth'
                          'Handshake'

Oh come on slimjim. Where did I call you an idiot? Unlike you it appears, who's now called me a cunt, dullard, told me to **** off and more all for just expressing my thoughts, I am luckily capable of posting a contrary opinion on the forum without resorting to unnecessary personal insults.

I have never said anything of the sort. That would defeat the point of the forum. I've asked people to ignore particular posters if they wind them up, and to not to respond to insults with more insults, but I have never suggested anyone should not post on the forum if they don't share someone else's opinion.

I think you need to reread my posts again, I never even remotely attacked you (unlike your responses), I just said your opinion was over optimistic and I, personally, think more cautious & realistic optimism is more constructive.

And like I said I don't expect us to win all those games but I wanted to show what could happen (in other words, we're not mathematically out of CL contention).
