Why, well, he is Lucas. If he played a **** game then he will admit it every time and say that it isn't good enough. The best isn't good enough, you can always be better than that.
A very very honest player that already lead by example on the pitch.
Isn't Lucas generally felt to be out of form and not the same player since his injury?Oh I don't know.

If Gerrard hadn't been made Captain then he would probably be playing for another club now so it was the right thing to do back then.Originally posted by dom9 View PostBack on topic.
Does it even matter one iota?
Gerrard was about 21 when he got it. Was he a good captain then? Did it hold us back? Was he better than Hyppia? Did it improve us?Stop the cyberhate

It takes time getting back to your best after being out for almost a year. The last few games he played much better.Originally posted by dom9 View PostStaying on topic.

I think that it also depends on the system, 4-2-3-1 instead of 4-3-3 have helped a lot.Stop the cyberhate

More, maybe. Long term though?Originally posted by Alex View PostLucas has been much better the last 5 games or so. More like the player from 18 months ago.

So to nominate him as captain now, being the player he currently is, is perhaps premature. If you value the role of captain, that is.Oh I don't know.

That is correct. He had some personal problems and after being made Captain he played much better.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostSuarez. Leads by example (most of the time), he's our talisman. Oh and didn't he captain Ajax?
He took his responsibility as a Captain.Stop the cyberhate

I don't think it means that much. As you say you need to pack the team with leaders like Rafa did.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostIndeed, I went for Agger
In all honesty does the captaincy really mean that much? You need leaders all over the pitchStop the cyberhate

That would totally depend on who we sign though, we don't even know who that's going to be yet.
Allen is a fair call, given his standing with Rodgers.
Lucas seems the obvious choice, though I've a sneaky suspicion for Suarez if he's still here by then..
