What do you believe our oweners think when they miss out on a lot of millions because we don't play in Europe?

We are Liverpool FC and a missed european place is something that simply shouldn't happen, it is almost unacceptable.

FSG have backed him but Rodgers have so far not delivered. That is the truth. He is the one under pressure and you can clearly see that when you read the things he said the last few weeks.

This thing about european football and that we play excellent when we in the real world underachieved.

Why can't we judge Rodgers by these same standards? It's not that different a timespan.
Under Kenny our league form was so woeful from Xmas it's not funny, the difference is our league form in the second half of the season has improved which is what you'd expect especially having to use a lot of the players that have been failing in the last few seasons.

You seem to be taking a long term approach to this job. Can you imagine yourself being here in ten years and where do you imagine Liverpool being by then?

I was asked to come in and build the club over the long term. I’m fully aware however, in the short term you need to produce results. Of course this is a club I would love to be at for a long period of time because it is one of the few institutions in football.

This is very much a destination for me as a manager but I have got to show improvements in the club on a yearly basis. Of course I would love to be here long term, but obviously you have to take care of the short term and show that development.

Ummmm that seems a sensible comment from Rodgers, what point about Rafa coming back are you trying to make in a round about way?

The key point is of course what FSG see as progress. We don't know that.

What is the minimum target? We don't know that.

Agreed, although in a previous post you seem to be trying to second guess what FSGs requirements are.

Simple fact is we don't know what their requirements are for this season.

We need to change our sponsors logo to Standards Compromised.

BR clearly states that whilst we want to be in Europe (because we are Liverpool kings of the world etc etc) he can make an 'argument' for not being it in next season. Well **** me Sherlock, its not rocket science is it? But why would you sit down with a reporter and make that argument? What does it achieve other than reinforce a lowering of expectations. **** off with that ****, we are Liverpool and we have expectations.

It is a psychological thing and maybe I read too much into it but there really has been a re-aligning of expectations at the club and BR is dragging us into his comfort zone. If that is where he feels most comfortable he can go back to Swansea.

considering he's their guy in a way that kenny wasn't, and we aren't actually looking worse every week, i expect they'll give him at least another season before **** gets real unless we really slide down the table. i'm talking relegation spots this season, or 10th place or worse after xmas nest.

Not a chance Rafa coming back but as I have already said, if Ancelotti get sacked and want to join us then I believe that they would sack Rodgers.

Rodgers will probably get another season as long as a top class manager isn't lined up as a replacement.

Is this thread about whether we, either as individuals or as a collective, want to be in the europa league next season or is it yet another thread to tear into the manager?

I'm not sure you're right, the cost of sacking Rodgers and bringing in Ancelotti would be huge and then the demands of a new list of transfer targets and a change in approach for the 4th time in 4 seasons would just be so costly.

We don't know that. Of course FSG will say that he is the one they wanted all the time but other managers said that they turned us down before they signed up Rodgers.

De Boer and Van Gaal for example.

It would cost very much but so do missing out on CL year after year. If we sacked Rodgers and replaced him with Ancelotti then FSG would do what Southampton did.

Sacking a manager isn't always bad. It depends on who you replaced him with and what ambition the owner have.
