. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Reading the stats, it appears the signing of *****r is pointless - another signing in the same category that Henderson, Downing, Carroll et al fall into. His distribution is nowhere near that of Reina's.

Those distribution stats could well be a result of Sunderland's style of play under Martin O'Neil - long balls galore.
Mignolet's save stats however are slightly superior to Pepe's.

...as they would be with sunderlands defence not doing a higher percentage of the blocking as hopefully our lads have done.
maybe because mingolet has had to do 2-3 seasons worth or work each year [comparatively speaking] he might be more up for it.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Yes fair enough BUT I was referring to his pass completion rates % wise etc- it doesn't matter what the style of play is or how many passes he does or doesn't do.

If you were playing keeper and asked to punt it forward in the hope of flick ons to progress up the field, passing would be hit and miss.
If on the other hand you were asked to pass it out from the back to your CB's, you'd have a much easier time if finding a pass.
It's not rocket science. That explains the big difference. But we won't know the size of the gap until Mignolet plays regularly.

You've got to look at the calibre of player Mignolet was passing to; a short pass to Titus Bramble who trips over his laces for example. Long passes, well there is an element of playing the percentages anyway, but I take your point.
We've been spoilt with Reina's ability on the ground and I think it'll be difficult to replicate. Mignolet has stated that he practiced with the ball in Belgium (which could also highlight a lack of ball training at Sunderland), so it's not as if he's a novice. I'm sure it'll be something we work on and at the end of the day, as long as he keeps the ball out of the net, he's doing his role.

Pepe's long pass completion is better too. Possibly due to him picking a long pass and our propensity to have something in the opponents half to aim at
