"Borderline pathetic" Come on for gods sake.Originally posted by Sarb View PostNot a joke. But some of his attempts to save shots were borderline pathetic for a number of seasons. Wigan at home springs to mind
Just like some people seem to think he was better than he was there is no doubt people are making out he was a lot worse. Number of seasons is also hyperbole. He was out of form for a season and a half at the very most. The times they are a changin'.

Christ I've said it a few times now.I haven't advocated bringing Pepe back or said he's better than Mig.The issue is not Reina or Mignolet. Reina was poor for sustained period and we decided to replace him, thats fine. The issue for me is was Mig the best we could get. Jury's still out on that one, made a good start, dropping clangers a bit too often now.Needs to be judged maybe next season after the defence is sorted but I don't accept he's making mistakes because those in front are ****e.His goal causing errors are down to him and him alone. He's cost us 4 points in the last 6 games which also meant we gifted our direct rivals 3 points each over us.He has earned us points too.As long as he earns more than he loses he's fine by me but he hasn't reacted well to his first error, the more he makes the more it will affect him.Originally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View PostMignolet has been poor for barely even a month, before that he's been nothing but excellent for us.
Reina had been a ****ing joke for a long time, not just in his last season here. I know a lot of people liked Pepe because he was signed by Rafa, was Spanish and was our keeper during our good spell in the CL but they need to take the nostalgia/rose tinted glasses off. He had been consistently letting in howlers for a long time and had to go.
I have a question for those who think we should have kept Pepe and not signed Mignolet : Do you think we would have more points right now if Reina had been our first choice keeper ??

A few reliable people said that. Was also the quotes from Begovic which were pretty specific even though he later denied them.Originally posted by Chazza View PostWhat makes you think that?
Begovic asking price was significantly higher than Mignolet though, but ability wise, Begovic is better for me

That was the story in the summer, Begovic first choice, asking price too high so we chose Mignolet who we'd be scouting heavily most of the season.Originally posted by Sarb View PostA few reliable people said that. the sunderland mignolet/liverpool reina stats most interesting bit is the shots faced.
our defence protected pepe, mig had to face an onslaught yet still prevailed.
our defence [including the midfield as they are often invisible] is no longer doing its job satisfactorily. i know a few on migs errors are down to him, but any keeper would flap more behind this shambles.
begovic would have been my choice too.
it would be nice to see last years mignolet vs begovic stats.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Mignolet is a young goalie. Hes not going to get everything right. I can barely remember a young goalie who's just looked fantastic right from the off and been great all through his career.
We've invested in him and now we need to stick it through. Hes an excellent shot stopper and the rest we will have to be patient with.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]
