You'd imagine after being dropped for Brad Jones and only being back in the side he knows he's under massive pressure for his future at the club. Reiterating that in press conferences isn't going to help anyone just make it more likely he'll crack and potentially cost us much needed points.

Encourage him publicly its the best option for the club especially at the moment. I very much doubt if we can bring in a keeper in Jan that he'd be starting for us anyway, remember he's only back in due to an injury

What you just described is what rodgers has been doing from the start. All the players who under perform badly week in week out keep getting encouragement and sent back out again, generally at the expense of better performing players. Encouragement has not worked for Mignolet. You're saying he should just keep soldiering on with this tactic.

On this season alone, how long did it take to actually drop him? Thats the issue. If rodgers is half as smart as he thinks he is then I hope he's got a keeper ready to bring in next month, like he should have done at the start of the season. And hopefully he doesnt wait till the very end of january to do something.

Thats what we're going on. But if you've noticed in the past rodgers likes to bench first team players only for a few games and then bring them back. ITs been his pattern. Chances are Mignolet would of been right back in the squad without brad's injury.

I met Neuer in Germany a few months back, couldn't believe it.

I said to him "I Neuer'd turn out to be a great keeper!"
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

He'd been pretty clear he was out for a while - dropped indefinitely or words to that effect.

He's back in now and until we can do something about the keeper position you've got to encourage him to be at his best; it's the best scenario for the club

So seriously, what the **** happened! Surely the lad can't be that fragile that his confidence has been so completely and utterly decimated? (It's Brendan's fault in 5...4...3...2...)
I think very few keepers have the mentality to make it a big club. We've had our fair share of failures in that regard but so have United and Hilario was quite fun for a while at Chelsea.

Brad Jones is a catastrophe, even for a reserve keeper he's beyond **** with the reactions of a sloth but Mignolet took the biscuit at the weekend, a walking calamity waiting to explode. If we don't have a keeper lined and ready to go in January we are well and truly up **** Creek

Presumably, whatever confidence he did have prior to being dropped and publically challenged to up his game by the manager, has gone completely now. He was pretty decent in the two games prior to being replaced by Jones and I think it's clear that the manager's strategy hasn't helped us at all, on the pitch or off it. It's just been a bit pointless and weird.

I'll judge that after seeing his next few games. I think saying it was pointless is a bit early at this stage.

Mignolet is as has already been said, a good keeper in certain aspects.

At a big club more is expected of you. Particularly at teams who ask them to come off their line and be a sweeper keeper. I remember when we signed Migs and he spoke about how he'd played with the ball at his feet at St Truiden in Belgium. Looks a fish out of water to me.

I think the confidence he's lost from playing high and having poor distribution has affected his mentality in coming off the line for crosses. He's never been great at that, but was okay. Now he's shocking. I think he can get that sorted, but his ability with his feet needs to be trained to the nth degree.

The problem is that we will never know if it would have worked as intended as clearly he wasn't expected to be back at this point. It won't be a popular example but Skrtel was dropped for a period and did come back better (or at least more confident and with the managers full backing). Rodgers felt he had worked on his game and deserved his spot back which would build confidence, with Mignolet he got back in the team because of injury which has no such possible impact.

Still, We did wonder if recalling Jones would be worth it and many were suggesting we should drop Mignolet for Jones. I wasn't one of them tbh. But we've now seen Jones in the side, and in all honesty, he is nowhere near good enough. So at least we should all now know who the undisputed number one is, and just get behind him and give him the backing.

Because whilst Mignolet will every now and again mess up, he does make some incredible saves every now & again. I still feel that to properly play the way we wish too, we need a proper sweeper keeper. But in the mean time we need to crack on with what we have and hope that the next keeper we sign is actually aware of the methods used and is properly trained in them.
