Liverpool can win Premier League title, says Arsenal legend

Liverpool are capable of winning their final six games and the Premier League title, according to Martin Keown

The Reds will lift their first top-flight crown since 1990 if Brendan Rodgers’s side win their remaining six games in the Premier League campaign.

They are ahead of Chelsea and if City slip up then that will give Liverpool a real injection of belief

And former Arsenal defender Keown reckons Liverpool will face the other form side in the division when they make the trip to Upton Park on Sunday.

“I think they can [win the title],” Keown said in the Daily Mail.

“It’s the old adage of one game at a time, and that might be boring but it’s so true.

“The West Ham match will be their focus now and it’s always a difficult game to go to. Sam Allardyce is confident he has kept them up and now the pressure is off.

“In a way they are the two form teams in the league, though Liverpool are much easier on the eye. It could be a strange atmosphere at Upton Park, which might help Liverpool.”

He added: “It’s so important not to slip up on your travels but if you are going to play Manchester City and Chelsea, you want those games to come at home.

“They are ahead of Chelsea and if City slip up then that will give Liverpool a real injection of belief. Personally, I think at this time of year you let your football do the talking.

“It’s tempting for players to start talking but you just want to hear one voice, the manager’s.”

If we do lose one I think we'll crumble. Momentum works both ways

When was the last time a team won the last 14 games in the season? When was the last time a team won 14 games on the trot? I can't imagine that happens too often and so it's difficult for me to believe we won't drop any points in the last 6 games.

But for that reason I'm not too worried if we do drop points, I don't think it will affect our confidence and I'm sure Chelsea and City will drop points too. It's difficult to see on paper but games are decided on the pitch not on paper and all kinds of things can happen in a game. We will all drop points between now and the end of the season I think.

The important thing is not to panic when we do!

Arsenal won 13 in 2001/02, then won their opening match of the next season to make it 14 - a Premiership record. Liverpool have managed an eleven game winning streak twice.
