Think the criticism of Johnson and Lucas is OTT too. It was a collective problem today IMO. We came through though in a situation where Man City and Chelsea have both not in recent weeks. Like you suggest a bit of perspective is needed.
Collective problem? I'm sorry but Johnson's lack of closing down his opponent and constantly allowing crosses in the box cannot be blamed on it being a collective problem. He has been like this for a long time. He just switches off too often for my liking. There were occasions today when he had enough time to play a forward pass but he did the total opposite by dilly dallying on the ball and ended up passing it backwards to our centre backs. This invited even more pressure on us. Now I'm not saying he was the only one looking to play it backwards because he wasn't but I have to say he was flippin poor today.

What a mentally strong group of players we've assembled. When the pressure is really, really on they just find the resolve to hang on in there.

11 STRAIGHT ****ING WINS!!! Everybody has fallen over but we've just kept it going again and again and again.....

With three games to go we have a point more than we finished with the last time we won the league.

If we could get Micah Richards fit he would be a good signing

I think some people on this forum need to take a step back & get real. Before I start I'll mention the fact we've now won eleven in a row, yet still people are getting a bit bitter. Get a grip. This is the best attacking football I've ever seen this team play. There is s reason.

This team is geared towards playing attacking football. We generally play with two strikers, we sacrifice being solid for being more attack minded. We could set up differently and we'd concede a helluva lot less. But we'd score less too. I enjoy our style and you all should too.

Next point. If we accept that we are adopting a more cavalier approach, we have to accept the opposition will create more chances. More chances equals more pressure on the defence. More pressure equals more mistakes. More goals. Etc. it's not rocket science.

Next. Rodgers continually tinkers with the shape of the team. It helps in an attacking sense. He bases it around giving us two strikers on the pitch, it keeps the opposition on their toes. But whilst a changing attack is a great thing, players switching flanks, inter changing positions - all this drags opposition defenders all over the place. But do you think this phelps a team defend? Do you think it helps create a solid unit? No it doesn't.

Add all the above to this: our defensive back line has continually changed. Be it the full backs - I make it as Enrique, Cissocko, Sakho, Agger, Glen and Flanno all playing LB at some stage this season. We've had Glen playing when injured. We've gone through CB partnerships ranging from three at the back, to two at the back. 4 CB's at home to So'ton. We've had Kolo, Agger & Sakho all trying to force their way in with extended spells alongside Skrtel. At the start Skrtel wasn't even considered for the team. It's been ****ing chaos.

So please, before blaming the players for individual errors, at least understand the difficulty they've all been put under.
                Forwards.......

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

Well we beat Chelsea and it's a huge huge step. Defo cannot lose to them- need to maintain the 5 point gap at least then all we need is a point from 2 games cos our superior goal diff.

Gotta hope Citeh drop more points. Them being so far behind in terms of games played is a double edged sword really. Be amazing if the Baggies got summat from them.
                    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

If you can't enjoy being 5 points clear with 3 games to go, and top 3 (ahead of our most hopeful target as recently as February), well you'll continue to entertain me at least.
Oh come on Dom, obviously everybody is made up with the actual result and enjoying the league immensely, but discussing how we actually played (ie. not very well for 80 minutes) is still possible without it necessarily being "moaning"
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.

And yet, the focus on negativity in here by some is well. I dunno. And don't forget there were more games back then.

I'm sorry btw, I know you don't like me replying to your posts, but I can't help it.
                        Oh I don't know.

                          Absolutely spot on.

He does not engage the player and gives so much time.. Allowing the cross to get in. It's infuriating.

Was having a conversation with redreet about it the other day. And you're right it's been going on for a long time.. Alan Hanson, whom knows a hell of alot about defending than most.. Picked this apart and he was bang on.

                            1989-90 was a 38 game season.

I can't be negative about winning. I know we could have played better, we could have scored more, we could have conceded less, but we won.

Of course it's moaning. Sure it wasn't the best display, but who cares. We've just won 11 games on the bounce, are 5 points clear and two games from winning the league (city won't win their next 4).
