Not surprising. Injuries have reduced his prospects but hopefully he can do well at a lower club.Originally posted by Fuzzy View PostOne tit for another.

So has he just inherited a good squad, is he a good manager or is it a combination of both?Originally posted by Fuzzy View Post

Could just be that it's a small sample. I suspect we will get a better view in the next year or two.Originally posted by Scratch View PostSo has he just inherited a good squad, is he a good manager or is it a combination of both?
Overall though it seems we are improving our youth development which is good to see."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I think the presence of Gerard alone is as big a contributing factor as his managerial skills. Kids must be buzzing having him around, so it's no surprise to see them doing so well.
I do wonder though, seeing as it's his first proper coaching/managerial role, if his approach is more results driven than development based. That's not to say that he'd intentionally risk the development of any of his players, but he obviously would be keen to make a good impression and I'm sure wants his players to do well and enjoy themselves, so I wonder if he makes some decisions that an older or more specialist youth coach maybe wouldn't make.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Millar scored a hat-trick in this game too and seems to be progressing well.Originally posted by SB View PostCurtis Jones looks a real prospect in Stevie’s U18’s.
He had 3 assists & scored 1 in a 5-1 win over Hartlepool playing in midfield. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

My genuine question is, have we actually improved in youth development or has it become the Stevie show and is there now more focus on youth results and performance (Stevie's development) than actual development of youth players? e.g. using Ings, Klavan, Robertson etcOriginally posted by dww View PostCould just be that it's a small sample. I know Ljinders and Co' have a great record and approach to producing a conveyor belt of players ready for the first team but that can and often conflicts with short term results in the youth leagues. Is there any reassurance that player progression is still the main purpose of these games?"that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011
