Yes, when I've seen him play the team seems to hang together a bit more. Difficult to explain but some players allow others to go forward, get back at the right times, like mini-catalysts.Originally posted by dww View PostIt would be interesting to hear what those who play with him say. I think sometimes observers and opposition alike can under estimate the things players do that help others excel.
It's hard to predict at this level though. They might look exceptional against players their own level but the step up is beyond them, they're only good when everyone else is at the same sort of ability. Some kick on - Sterling seemed to and kept improving. Fowler and Owen were the same, and Gerrard. Others don't quite get there like Neil Mellor who broke all kinds of scoring records in the reserves.Experimental music, Metropolitan foodstuffs, Mexican wrestler art, London suburbia, wry whimsy, fansy pants flim flam lad

A lot seems to depend on when and how they are challenged with the step up. Both Martinez and Rodgers have said that they think the lack of exposure to high level competitive football (rather than training or talent) is the problem with development of players in this country. It will be interesting to see the development of those players we are loaning out lower down the leagues.Originally posted by Venton View PostYes, when I've seen him play the team seems to hang together a bit more. Yup, and which clubs they go to probably have a lot to do with that.Originally posted by dww View PostA lot seems to depend on when and how they are challenged with the step up. They're struggling a bit? Managers might go with their tried and trusted players in those kind of situations. Then again, scrapping for every game might do them good...Originally posted by dww View PostWhat do you think of Cheltenham Town as a destination?Experimental music, Metropolitan foodstuffs, Mexican wrestler art, London suburbia, wry whimsy, fansy pants flim flam lad

@MerseyReds1: #LFC youngster Sheyi Ojo named Wigan's Man Of The Match on his debut today. He came on as a sub. Future is bright. http://t.co/t05zCghF3C
Wow. Not a bad start for the lad.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
