Well have to agree to disagree

I think Klopp has also said similar about Mig, Karius and Moreno aswell in the past.

He bought Alisson, sold Karius & now Mig is warming the bench. Bought Robertson and as soon as he was ready, Moreno was dropped and is now used as sparingly as possible. Gomez also has become number one choice beside VVD. I never read into public comments by any manager trying to big up or come to the defence of his players. That's just a good manager publicly backing up his players and taking the pressure off them, his actions have shown what exactly he really thinks

I reckon the Salah factor also means he stays.

Gomez is ahead of him but we have 4 incredibly strong options at centre back.

Nothing against the Croats - went to see IRL play them in the Euros and they thumped us - have great time for them and drank plenty with their fans. Love most of their players.

I read the full interview (my agenda insists of course I did ) and it has been taken out of context but why Dejan, why always you shooting your mouth off.

You hardly expect him to slander him - we have seen Klopp publically back players and bin them when the time has come. Looks at Migs and Karius.

I expect him to be sold this summer

Klopp, who saw his side draw 0-0 with Bury in their latest warm-up game, offered a wry smile when reminded of Lovren’s remarks.

“It would be better if someone else said that and not Dejan, but actually he is right,” said Klopp.

“The only problem is no-one actually thinks about it but if you go into the detail it is not a big surprise. Croatia do not have world class right-back and left-back, but they do not concede. In the middle of the park Rakitic and Modric are offensive, so somebody must fix all that and he is a big part of it.

“He was with us in the Champions League final, and two years ago in the Europa League final. Okay, we did not win that but that means only 11 players were better than us, and only two centre-halves. I did not see two better centre-halves in the Champions League (final) – only that they were more ruthless.

“He has played a really good World Cup but to do it consistency is the main thing. Dejan and I will be working together for a long time. I have the opportunity to help him and next time, maybe I will say it.”

Is there some Croat Irish thing I’m not aware of

I don't rate Lovren but I also don't think his comments will have any impact whatsoever on the result. My gripe is that his performances on the pitch don't warrant the crap he spouts - one of the best defender in the world, we might go unbeaten....blah blah blah. I'd prefer him to shut up and prove it on the pitch. Maybe he is just a very self confident lad with poor media training who lacks humility.

Lallana is another one - I'm back, fully fit, raring to go....like a new signing........missing for 3 weeks.... Just keep your mouth shut and get on with it.

Maybe it's the club's fault for allowing these guys to give interviews, maybe the others just don't want to who knows but they are annoying as **** with their comments.
Read the interview above - he didn’t say anything controversial. The word ‘hopefully’ seems to have been missed in the various outlets that have taken the story on. He mainly talks about how good City are.

I agree though, even if he had been overly cocky it doesn’t affect the game.

Lovren has become a top class centre back, clearly when Brendan was here this was not the case. But to continually slate him when he really hasn’t done much wrong is a bit boring.

Big Virgil made a howler in the first few minutes against City in the CL last year. All defenders will make mistakes.

    ... except Robbo obviously.
