I knew he was going to miss. Which pretty much sums up my feelings about him.

If he cost £5m as a forth choice, meh, maybe. £20m as someone who should've been first though, we've been royally ****ed.

In his defence, today it wasn't an easy game to be a defender, they were under extreme pressure.

Baffling that he took the fifth penalty - in fact, it was a ludicrous decision, so well done Dejan for stepping up to take responsibility but **** me, it was always going to end up like that. In pressure situations you need experience and technique, he doesn't have either.
He didn't make a single mistake at the back and his passing was only poor was when he was trying to force it. He made numerous clearing headers and got tight / dropped at the right moments. Didn't get skinned once. Him & Moreno on that left flank were outstanding.

I thought that defensively we were very sound overall. It took an absolute belter to score past us which is what I thought prior to kick off.

Lovren has been an absolute and utter disaster (barring his debut!)

He has, but forgetting the fee and the start, he's done well in his last few appearances. Nothing amazing, but quite solid.

Of course, I'm just as disappointed as anyone as I expected for that fee a player who could come in and dominate. Clearly it was a piece of bad business by the club. But what's done is done and you have to move forward and salvage what you can. Better & worse players than him have struggled and salvaged careers at both this club & others.

Right now we have to forget and give him the time to pull it out the fire. But criticising him every time based on the fee doesn't help.

The recent performances have been better, and he had the guts to step up and take a penalty, when given the fact he's had a difficult time here, it would have been easy for him to have avoided it, if he'd wanted to.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm sure by going 5th the poor lad had stars in his eyes and saw it as a chance of redemption....... But football doesn't always play out like a Hollywood script.

What irks me at the moment is he's trying too damn hard. Instead of trying cross field balls he should just play it simple and stick to the basics. Don't look to impress or stand out, just do the basics. If he did that last night, he's anonymous until that pen as he then doesn't put a foot wrong. He won every header and got in the way of everything. He was tight at the right times and didn't give Tore a sniff, not their other wide player when they switched.

It was kudos to him that Tore got switched as he's their star wide man and did nothing.

Rodgers thinks Lovren will turn out to be a very good player for us so I think patience is required. Hope he turns it around, he was brave to take that penalty.

He was a signed as a top player, used to our league, ready to be a top centre half. He isn't. Rodgers thinks Ashley Williams is great too. He isn't.

I'm not saying Rodgers is right about everything but patience is required to see whether he can prove himself to be a good player rather than just dismissing him at this point in time as not good enough. Plenty of players should have taught us not to be so quick to judge. Mignolet being the most recent example.

Excellent today. Much calmer today and linked defence and midfield nicely, especially in the second half. Looked twice the player of Mangala.

Yup kudos to him, his passing at times was poor but defensively he was much better
