**** me chaps give the giy a chance, we should not underestimate how important the fullbacks are. Last season we were quite settled there with Johnson and Flanno, both have been injured this year. 2 new full backs, both in a new country and league is difficult enough but throw in a new central defender and it is bound to take time to gel.

I honestly think Lovren is the right player, I'm sure Brendog meant to introduce into a more settled back 4 but injuries have forced new players to be blooded,

The whole team is struggling due to injuries to key players, let's back him rather than crucify the poor bloke.

We might as well have not played with a right back last season such was the usefulness of Johnson.

I do agree that chopping and changing the defensive lineup has negatively impacted us. Not all of that has been down to injury though.

Goalkeeper is an issue but so are both our centrehalves and our holding midfielder

We have a goalkeeper who is indecisive and not commanding
1 centrehalf who is error prone and subject to lapses of concentration and cant organise
1 centrehalf who is positionally terrible and fails to organise either
1 holding midfielder who isnt great positionally and whose legs are going / gone


My preference would be to get a commanding centrehalf in who organises well because he could dictate to others where they should be (see how Carragher improved us the other year when he returned to the team)

I agree on the points about Mignolet and our CBs and holding mid but we will not be buying any CBs any time soon.

We have already spent over 36m on 2 of them so BR will not get any money to improve there.

Personally what we need is a holding mid like Matic who can read the game well and has a great positional sense and we have to bring in a defensive coach.

If we can do that and if Valdes is nearly good as he was before the injury, I think we will see significant improvements for better.

He can play in few different roles but a box-to-box mid is imo his best position.
