What's the betting that if we signed one of them, they wouldn't look so great either. Whilst they're good DM's, some of it has to be down to style of play also.

I know exactly why Johnson does it. It makes perfect sense cutting in with your foot which is closest to their goal on the inside, but he does it every time it's so predictable and proven to be ineffective. It's lead to a handful of goals during his years here and it becomes tedious. It's hardly like he goes on the outside and whips in a ball with his right etc. I'm all for players being two footed (Riise and now Moreno drive me a bit mad with their frustrating one footedness), I was more making reference to using their stronger foot in situations which would favour them.

The majority of time he goes on the outside and cuts it back. When he cuts in on his left he always gets a shot off, but because he hardly ever does it, it's still unpredictable. But........ Whilst he doesn't cut in as often as you may think he does, sometimes a short pass would be a better option than a shot. So I guess I agree with your point

They wouldn't look so good here because the difference between shining for Southampton and shining for Liverpool is vast for a variety of reasons.

I see the BBC gossip column is linking Varane with a £19m move to the PL. Makes the Lovren fee seem ridiculous in comparison, and tbh if Varane is available at that price we should be all over it and pair him up with his international team-mate Sakho.

Varane won't be sold, he's the best young CB in world football. If he was to go, expect upwards of £40m

Even with those 2 players in their side last season plus Lovren they conceded only 4 less goals than we did

So what does that tell us, that they are that good or Lovren is just ****e???

Southampton have completely changed their whole back four though, they lost Shaw, Lovren and Chambers who all played along that backline

To be honest I am not sure how good Schneiderlin & Wanyama are

Wanyama was injured a lot last season & Clyne was only establishing himself. Bertrand has come in for Shaw who is weak defensively.. and even though he is a much less progressive fullback and yet he has more productivity in 15 games this season than Shaw has all last season. Also, they have got in Forster who is a very good GK.. far superior to Boruc.

They've also got a new manager. Lovren is a major problem to any defence. Their team has a great balance to it, never expected Koeman to do this well.
