Not defending Klopp (too much), but that comment was clearly designed to boost Lovrens confidence, he can hardly go out after we've been chasing VVD all summer and say...

"Sorry lads, we haven't landed out primary defensive target this summer so we are going to have to put up with that useless cunt Lovren again, my bad...".

Ultimately we don't know what happened in the summer. Perhaps Klopp was told not to worry it is in the bag with Van Dyck? Perhaps we did have other targets but blew it by chasing VVD. Klopp is away on preseason, organising training etc. and doesn't handle all the negotiations. We obviously came close on a couple of transfers, but close is nothing.

I was more meaning the decision to play him pumped up with painkillers rather than play Klavan. If that's what happened.

The decision not to sign another CB is another issue but again is a poor decision and one that seems to become more costly each week
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The big problem is not signing a CB in the summer. Lovren has concentration issues, but coming in for the odd few games is fine. However, he's in our main defensive line again, and expected to remain concentrated for high pressured games twice a week. It's bonkers. If he's in pain, it makes our decision not to sign a CB even worse.

Regardless of that he is the weakest link and needs to be replaced ASAP
I thought he actually said it himself. Takes painkillers before each start to ease it. Cant be exactly optimal for anyone.
          *Except Michael, who died.

            Fair enough Buzzo

I have been beating the Lovren is ****e drum since we signed him and I wouldn't play him again. I have to also say I feel sorry for him, regardless of his £100k a week he had to shut down his social media accounts from what I read.

Is this a recent or long term thing? Yesterday was the first that I heard of it.

And we knew he'd have knocks, injuries, he also seems to pick up every virus or illness going. Even if him and Matip were world class we still needed another option. It's just a mental situation. Strange thing is he said we needed a stable defence on the day he was appointed but has barely spent a penny on it and played the same failures since. Hopefully we can muddle through till January, are only a few points off top 4 at worst and can get some players in but I'd be totally stunned if Feb 1st brought anything other than "you can't get the players in January"

Lovren works at a pace faster than I can adapt to. I'm still still pissed off with him and cursing him about that Sevilla goal because something like would take me a few months, maybe a year to get over.

Yesterday's mistakes are in a FIFO queue. I just feel numb like I'm going to be more angry soon once I start dequeuing. If that makes sense. This is how bad Lovren is!

The issue is Lovrens not good enough.

I think we all agree on that. It would be fascinating to know what went on in the summer, because we were clearly looking to upgrade.

Begs the question what BR saw in him to sign him and what Klopp saw in him to award him a new and improved contract....for all of Lovren's failings the blame also lies at Klopps feet.

On his day Lovren's one of best centre backs in Europe if not the World.

The trouble is he had that best day years ago and he hasn't had one since.

And funnily enough it was the same day the Liverpool scouts went to see him play for Southampton.
No he ****ing isn't don't be stupid mate, he's ****ing atrocious.

Monday night football when Carra and Nev bigged him up after their performance vs United.
