bang on. Frustrating, Capable of some great games but prone to **** up, Hence why he is 3rd or 4th choice.

I think it's well known on here that I am not a fan of his and have never been a fan of his, the sooner we replace him the better for me.......................but.................he is not a cunt, a ****** or anything like that. He just isn't a good enough player to be playing at the highest level of football.

Why is he still here......that is what any of us would ask Klopp but in reality I think we can see that he is fourth choice CB at the moment. Gomez is VVDs preferred partner and when he got injured then Matip was given the chance. Matip seems to be made of biscuits and is always injured so we are left with Dejan. He has made plenty of errors in other games but the opposition haven't been able to punish us unlike last night and I'd say his high wages make it difficult to get him off the books.

Klopp and Edwards are not idiots and they are phasing players out of the team/squad but that takes time. I think this time next year himself, Moreno, Lallana and Migs will be gone and then only Hendo will be left to scapegoat

Clearly he doesn't intend to make the ****s ups he does but he has a tendency to build himself up for big games and then lose his composure/concentration. The comments pre match don't have an impact on the game but they do give fuel to the fans who don't rate him (and there are plenty) to use it as another stick to beat him with. I know some of the lads here are brilliant at getting behind the team and being objective when judging players but he made a number of errors last night - two led to goals and two led to big chances for them where Alisson/poor finishing left us off the hook.

Anyway - I think I am "over" the game last night - mad that we are 4 points clear having played City twice and only lost once in 21 games.

      UP THE REDS.

He doesnt deserve all the nasty hatred but my word he is not good enough to be in our squad. How many times now do we find ourselves having this same conversation about the countless mistakes he makes. They are more often than not game changing/losing mistakes as well.

He should have been shipped out a couple of years ago and replaced.

No need for the vile comments and threats etc that he gets though. He tries, he is just not good enough... far too many brain farts and lack of awareness.

A tough night for him last night. But let's not forget he has also been a big part of the 9 wins on the bounce that preceded last night's defeat.

He is more than capable against most other teams in the League.

At the end of the day he isnt good enough to be one of our first choice centre backs.

We know he is only getting played as gomez and matip digestive are both injured.

So for our fourth choice CB to be blowing his own rusty trombone is a little hard to bear and he loves any opportunity to mention his word cup final and CL final and it seems like he is fluffing himself and his own ego to get a move to somewhere sunny.
Cant wait to see the back of the guy.

He didn't have his best game. True enough.

To blame him for the first goal is harsh. Aguero cheated his way into the position he scored from, and it was an absolute world class goal. It had to be.

I've seen one or two blaming Lovren for the second goal too. Can't see it myself, but we're in scapegoat territory so anything goes.

Obviously a mistake late on to miscontrol the ball that led to a chance.

We've got the best defender on the planet in VVD. There is no other best. To expect everyone else to be the same standard isn't realistic, no matter who they are. But the criticism is OTT and some of you are like a colied spring when it comes to waiting for any mistakes from certain players (and the list is quite long). That is pretty sad.
Interested as to why you felt Aguero "cheated" to get into that position??

Also if you were being ultra critical I think there was a moment in the build up to the 2nd goal when Lovren was slightly deeper and played Sane (or maybe Aguero) onside. Could be wrong though

They were the better team no doubt about it, the game is often won and lost on fine margins, would I have preferred to have Gomez fit (yes) but Lovren played and sometimes you have to accept injuries and subsequent team selection might be a factor in results. Just look at Citys results without Fernandinho, its hard to point the finger at his specific replacement for the goals they conceded but theres no doubt they are weaker when he is absent (its the same when Lovren plays for me)

The dive in the build up / previous cross.

Ah right ok, something and nothing that for me

No matter what he did or didnt do the defenders have to pick him up again on the next phase of play

If we are being ultra critical of Lovren you could say he should have been tighter and shouldnt have allowed Aguero to turn but then sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say it was great play

I think that the criticism of Lovren is a little harsh, I don't think he cost us the game as some are suggesting.

Perhaps he could have done a little better on occasions but I don't think there is much you can do with either of their goals.

I will be happier when Gomez comes back but he's a 3rd or 4th choice CB I don't think we can complain too much
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Totally agree, Augero's first touch was phenomenal. If it was Virgil marking him there wouldn't be any criticism whatsoever

They targeted that side so any City goal was bound to involve Lovren. Can forgive him the first one but the second one he just didn't hold the line with the rest of the defence - felt like such a soft one to concede.

Didnt attack the ball or close the player down, and half turned as the player took the shot.
