Anyone who bore witness to Jones and Maguire 'defending' yesterday for ManU should appreciate how lucky we are to have the likes of Lovren, Matip and Gomez able to step in and partner VVD.

After Lovren played late into the World Cup it was Gomez who started in front on him at the start of the following season and we probably looked stronger than we ever looked at the back before his unfortunate injury at Burnley. Lovren came back but was injured shortly after, resulting in much teeth gnashing as we had to turn to our 4th choice centre back.

Matip as we know, was excellent and helped us finish with our highest point total ever and Champions of Europe. Unfortunately, he is injured again and Lovren is Virgil's partner and I have no doubt he will continue to perform well alongside him.

It sounded like thats exactly what you were saying.
How does specifically naming Lovren sound like a statement about CB's in general?

Ok, that was a bit of dramatic license from me in saying 'literally', but I've already explained what I meant in the rest of my post that you've quoted.

Lovren has been pretty decent, but we have failed to get a cleansheet since Matip got injured.

Not sure Lovren has been to blame in any way, but we are defintely more leaky this season.

Are we more sloppy in our clearences, or pushing on further, or just unlucky?

Either way, I dont think it has adversely affected our season so far.

In the past we would have beat Brighton by a routine 4 goals to nil. I’ll be annoyed if they score at Anfield on Satdee.

We have barely kept any clean sheets all season, even before Matip got injured.

Only Burnley and Sheffield Utd have failed to score against us.

Talk Sport was on in my car this morning, I'd been listening to the City Chelsea game Saturday. Anyway, Alan Brasil and Sam Allardyce were banging on about how it was our clean sheets that were the reason we're top and that it was all down to Virg and Alisson. So I checked the results so far this season...

We've conceded in 11 out 13 but only conceded 11 in total. Basically we're conceding a single goal in nearly every game but never more than 1 so far this season

It's muppets on those shows that I can't stand with their lies, remarks & false statistics & even worse are the listeners who take their word...no wonder the UK are in a mess with Brexit etc.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

Solid game and a thumping header too. Fair play, Degsey

Good game, apart from the feeble attempt at a tackle that let the player then go tumbling into fabinho.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

                              Praise indeed.

I realised he reminds me (personality wise) of my French mate Christophe, who I don’t see any more. So I have a soft spot for big Degsy.

But he’s been great since he came on for big Joel.

I thought he (we) was a bit lucky for the goal.
                                Are we winning?
