Moreno needs the game to be in front of him, which is how Klopp plays the game. If someone gets in behind then he is suspect. Lucas helped him out a bit yesterday as De Bruyne barrelled down that side.

I don't think he fail miserably. He was good in patches but its confidence more than anything that klopp has instilled. I'm sure he will still **** up defending with the wrong foot in his own box from time to time, but under klopp he spends most of his time bombing forwards and leaves lovren or can to cover him. Really like this lad,it's hard not to.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostBy no means Paulo Maldini at LB, but this kid actually looks like he can defend under Klopp. How did Rodgers fail so miserably with this lad? Was he too busy sulking over not getting Ryan Bertrand?Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Rodgers played the game the same way Klopp did though. Or at least intended too. 13/14 was exactly what Klopp preaches. He is no doubts an attacking full back and when he goes forwards we need to cover those gaps, Lucas does that very impressively. I think when near the byline Moreno does well, always blocking the cross.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostMoreno needs the game to be in front of him, which is how Klopp plays the game. I think he has a lot to learn still when players cut in and are one on one with him near the 18 yard line. You can't stand off as much as you can when further from the goal. I think in those situations under Rodgers he looked suspect. I think Klopps 4231 formation has prevented that happening so much due to extra protection.Forwards.......

The massive difference between Klopp and Rodgers is defence. The 13/14 season the defence was still really poor but that attack masked its deficiencies - often teams were afraid to over commit going forward as we could do so much damage on the counter.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostRodgers played the game the same way Klopp did though. Once we lost Suarez and Sturridge through injury, teams didn't have to worry about our counters and could expose our poor defence to greater effect. The lack of confidence from defence then spread through the whole team to the point where we just seemed completely clueless at times.
Rodgers refusal to recognise and correct the teams defensive issues was his downfall.

He's boss. Still very inexperienced and will improve too, yesterday was only his 73rd top division league start which is **** all really! Not that some have the patience to watch the youngun's learn as we've seen with Hendo, Lucas, Can, Cuntling and this thread over the years. He's worth the patience and will become a better version of Lizarazu.

(Except I'd substitute the word inability for refusal).

I think it was also that he didn't trust the right players, Lucas, Sakho, Moreno for example are players whose confidence he lost IMO by preferring the wrong option over them consistently. Those were also key defensive players which partly lead to our defensive issues.Originally posted by rudedog View PostThe massive difference between Klopp and Rodgers is defence. Rodgers refusal to recognise and correct the teams defensive issues was his downfall.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
