I thought the decision was a bit harsh *but* it's dumb as **** diving in like that, especially when the ref had spent the previous 30mins or whatever it was giving them a free kick every single time they hit the grass. Everyone makes mistakes but it's frustrating he doesn't seem to learn. If he could cut a few of them out he'd be fine but I fear he's a Skrtel who just wont learn and thus costs us 10 + goals a season rather than just 4 or 5 like most normal defenders.

I think you're right, he doesn't seem to learn. Same old thing, ball watching and diving in too much. I haven't quite given up on him - after the Europa final he's probably built up this game massively in his head so he probably wasn't very calm or composed, and they clearly targeted him. He definitely calmed down second half

To give the lad credit, Klavan looked super composed today, as he did in preseason..

He looks like an automatic first choice.. He was brilliant today.

bring back aly, no coincidence that we're not challenging for titles since he left

I have to agree with Gary Neville when he mentions that when starting Moreno, we might as well be a goal down already!...hit it on the head with that comment for me!
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

That's the best highlights reel I've ever seen.

Anyway back to Moreno. Having reviewed Walcott's goal, I'm not sure we can blame Moreno for that one.

He's clearly been given the instruction to get out of defence and be a wide outlet when we recycle the ball back from the opposition - that's the reason there was a big hole at LB, he'd made his move and wasn't to blame for Lallana(?)'s balls-up which allowed Arsenal to win back the ball so high up the pitch.

He's a terrible, terrible tackler though.

His rashness like when he headed across the back line straight to an Arsenal player , the stupid flying squirrel tackle in the box.

This is his third season with us and I don't see any improvement in his defensive play which is what we need from a left back.

Glen Johnson got pelters for ages and he was a far better player than Alberto

Agree with all of that - his decision making is terrible and he loves a rash tackle and jumped into another one in the box before he gave away the pen.

Re his attacking instructions and the cause of the first goal - this is good analysis of it:

I think it's a lack of defensive organization, whether we have the ball or not, in that situation (with play so close to our goal) IMO whoever is in charge of our back four needs to make sure someone has an eye on Walcott, be that Moreno or one of the CBs he shouldn't be allowed so much space in an area such as that.

I don't see what Moreno adds to the team-he's poor going forward, doesn't help with taking of set pieces, his crossing is non existent and then defensively he leaves a lot to be desired.
