Aye true, but to be fair that would be ignoring the glaring issues we have at the moment defensively & all this minus a Luis Suarez

Yeah, because last year we were so defensively solid!

Our issues are that we have several new players trying to build an understanding of each other and several other players out injured.

The reality is that Southampton, Swansea, West Ham, Hull. They will all fall away. Leaves us top 5 with plenty of time to improve.

Not denying that for a second mate, but it's still an issue & 3 points is 3 points regardless at what stage of the season it is. We miss Sturridge horribly & Allen seems to be someone we need in there too to accommodate this quarter back role Rodgers wants Stevie in.

We've had wholesale changes in the back line and have had to use them straight away.. not ideal but it is what it is. 3 Losses from 5 Games is ****ing **** whatever way you want to swing it. Now the next game is home to Everton in the derby... poxy game & it's kind of a must win to get back on track.

I think there is definitely something in this.

Tactics, injuries, no Suarez etc are all playing a part, but we've gone from riding the crest of a wave, smashing teams, playing with clear and confident minds, to all of a sudden looking as if we are massively doubting ourselves. I appreciate this would have happened to a degree anyway with Suarez leaving and new players coming in, but we just don't look particularly confident or relaxed at all. I can only hope the more we lose the more angry and focused we become and really dig in and grind out some results. That's the only way i can see us getting out of this at the moment. That and miraculous recoveries from Allen and Sturridge

Missing Suarez is huge but to be fair, we'd be missing him still anyway even if he stayed!

I think the Everton game might be good for us. We need a big game where the players will all be fired up. Could be the ideal opposition. Lukaku has potential to cause us all sorts of damage though.

Watching the Villa and West Ham games the opposition genuinely looked like they had more players on the pitch than us. I mean, is that a fitness thing? Or are teams just not scared of us anymore?

And the elephant in the room is Suarez. We're all looking for a deeper reason as to why it's going tits up, all trying to think more deeply and in less simple terms, but the whole "we'll score more than you" ethos falls on its arse when you don't have an absolute genius up front. I'm not saying we wasted the money - far from it - but we miss Suarez so painfully. Not just his goals, or his insanely brilliant play - but his work rate and will to win. It was infectious, he galvanised lads around him and made them all, every ****ing one of them, up their game. And when Sturridge is injured too it's a ****ing nightmare.
                      Good post.

Disagree. You'll see how much better we are with Sturridge back and to a lesser extent Allen. There's still some massive issues to be dealt with but I'm going to give BR some faith that he can solve those issues to some extent.

I think if Balotelli and Sturridge can strike up a partnership then it could be something special....

I wonder where markovic will fit in though.....even long term I find it hard to see where he fits in the team. I would love to see Brendan pick a ****in formation and stick to it for a good 10 games in a row...

The big problem will be the defense. If Lovren and Sakho turn out to be **** players long term (they've been ****in terrible so far) then what does the board do?? Throw another 40m at it??? At what point does it become a coaching problem and not a personnel issue?? It could be the ruination of Rodgers (at which point we can all look for rafa to return!!)
