Disagree regarding Henderson, his game is pressing high winning the ball back high. If he misses it then he has the engine to get back. Now the high press is miles off and that is a key transition into him breaking into the box and driving attacks.

I dont think its Gerrard doing that its a lack of energybor drive from Hendo. I am a big fan of the lad he is undroppable at the moment but he set high levels last season and hes not half way there this season.

I am not impressed with Lovren at all

I agree that is his game but how can he press high when he's constantly covering defensively. He has an amazing engine but he's not a machine. But yes he has been off last seasons form alright.

IMO the defensive diamond is a big issue.

Mignolet was not the problem today. The hes not commanding enough argument may have some merit but its blown way out of proportion and was not the issue against west ham

All CBs were dire but lovren takes the cake. Once mignolet clearly yelled keepers only for lovren to ignore it, then both he and sahko jump rashly up for the same ball, no idea who called that one if either did but it was carbon copy of what they both did against spurs. Zero communication between the pair.

Listen the master forward presser of the ball was Rush, when he left in 87 it didnt disappear because Whelan and McMahon still kept energy and the press up

Bring the pressure back and you can still make it work

All I know is Rodgers has his work cut out trying to solve our issues at the back once and for all. It doesn't matter what system he plays we still look pretty ****e at the back.

Yeah, we used to press from the front due to Suarez's incredible work rate. We just aren't getting that with Balotelli.

I disagree. All great teams need a holding midfielder, its just Gerrard is not a holding midfielder and never will be. Its the ultimate in selfless roles, doing nothing but plugging holes. Hamman is still the best I have seen play that position, and the vital cog in Houlliers team. Benitez team only came to fruition once he bought Mascherano in.

Gerarrd can still pick a pass, and should be deployed alongside Henderson, not behind him.

SO many things today but one thing I thought we'd at least have this season is unity. There just seems to be so many confused looks everywhere. Need players to speak up.

There was one incident when a handball was given against us but from the replay it showed that it was actually the West Ham player that handled. Not a single fuss was made by any of our players. If that was a team out to win by any means, they would have kicked up a fuss about a free kick being wrongly rewarded in a dangerous position. Instead they went straight to building a wall. Punishment taken.

It just sets the tone. We've gone back to being soft.

I think hes an issue BUT hes not the issue.

By that I mean press teams better and compete for second balls better and the Gerrard issue is diminished

Also I am not sure you can point the finger at Gerrard on too many of the goals we have conceeded, most of them have come about by poor positioning and individual errors by your goalkeeper and new £20m centrehalf

Yeah it's a mess alright.. how on earth Rodgers is going to fix this i have no idea. Games are coming up thick and fast and i can't see these glaring issue going away anytime soon. No quick fix for this unfortunately.

A great guide to pressing is watching how the team reacts to 2nd balls. When the ball is cleared the defence and holding player push out in symmetry whilst the rest of the players close and effect a press.

This isnt happening and that is also keen to setting tone and tempo

Watch us this season we just havent competed for a second ball and that is as key as any pressing
