With Martin Skrtel in the team we concede 2s and 3s, without we dont concede many so naturally he starts.

Lucas and Gerrard cant play together so they start together.

Borini cant score or assist so starts instead of one of the more productive strikers in recent years in the PL.

Totally agree, and I posted as much in the Rodgers thread.

We are still defensively suspect to say the least. In fact we look worse than last season, and he promised that it would be sorted for this season. It has been a shambles tbh.

The signing of Lovren worries me, even though it is early days.

He made a good sub with Lallana, but then undone it all by sticking Lambert on when we needed the mobility of Borini. The last 15 mins or so we were too static up front and entirely predictable.

As much as I love Rodgers, I think he got it horribly, horribly wrong today - without taking away from a dire team performance.

As said above, Gerrard plays 3 games as a 34 year old but Sterling rested to stop him burning out. Gerrard is wandering around the pitch at times and Lucas is not good enough to compensate for him.

I realise that after watching that **** we will never win the Title....our big chance came and went last season....Total Abject Performances from players who were bought to IMPROVE the team..**** Team Selection from Rodgers ...Lucas and Gerrard....doesn't ****ing work !!! I don't really know where to start.

The centre backs are all over the place, Mignolet can't decide if he is coming or going.

Attack-wise we offer little threat we have little movement on or off the ball, and we never get in behind or hit teams on the counter attack. We have resorted to throwing crosses into the box against the likes of Big Sam's West Ham and Paul Lambert's Villa. Essentially we have stopped doing all the stuff that made us successful last year.

Even if what you say is true which I don't know, we can still do better than Lucas for example.

It's really early days, but I just can't see us making it unless Sturridge remains fit for the rest of the season and we miraculously manage to defend with above Conference level.

In some ways I get the impression that last season's performances, coupled with all of the signings, makes the team almost think that top 4 at least will automatically happen.

Let's be honest, we are looking like a Spurs post-Bale at the moment.
