It's a bit of a tired point but I think it's still the right one--this team is very new and needs to gel. Key players are injured. It's not a perfect scenario by any means. Even though Rodgers is probably culpable for at least part of the result through his selection and original tactics, he's shown time and time again that he learns. His decision to replace Manquillo with Sakho really changed our game and for most of the second half West Ham was hanging on. Borini had a couple of chances that he should have finished and there were a few other chances Adrian saved quite well. It just didn't come off for us today but it wasn't a completely awful performance. First half was really difficult to watch but it got better as it went along and the second half (barring the last 10 mins or so), we looked much better than they did.

Dunno. The future has looked hopeless in the recent past but it doesn't feel that way. Think Brendan is right when he says this team will kick on second half of the season. Unfortunately, this league is ruthless and you can't afford to squander so many points in the first half if you want to qualify for the Champions League.... but Arsenal somehow manages to do it year in, year out. So who knows? It's still early. There are almost 100 points left to play for.

It was always going to be a difficult season with all the new personnel, all the extra games, and losing Suarez. The defence looks atrocious and it's a bit surprising. Sakho is a good player. He looks great when he plays for France, and has had some good performances with us. Lovren looks crazy and nervous but he will settle in and stop being ridiculous. It'll get sorted.

    Just tryna be positive.

            Our defence:

Lallana made a difference when he came on. I can't help but think Can and Allen would've helped if fit, to add a mixture of defensive and attacking work.

We look ridiculously disjointed though. Sturridge out makes a difference.

Mignolet makes the defence worry. Our fullbacks leave massive gaps behind them. mario isn't going to do the running up front.once Allen and sturridge are back we'll be a different proposition. hold tight

As daft as this may sound, but perhaps the best and only way forward is to play Skertel, Sakho and Lovren together in every match, at least they'll start to gain an understanding together somewhat and it may help alleviate any defensive errors.

Very concerning how poor we are in defense. Don't want to sit here slagging them team off all night as they were actually much improved in the second half but the lack of creating clear chances, a threat from set pieces - namely corners and our performances defensively needs addressing quickly otherwise we're going to get Rodgered (no pun intended) by other teams.

Everton will destroy us I reckon.

Nothing more to say really, disaster of a game. I hope this won't be repeated because it was horrific. Even though Borini lacks precision in vital circumstances it's worth noting how useless we were after he left the pitch. We need mobile attackers to open up space for us up front otherwise we can't get the ball forward and knock it around our centre halves. After he left there was no penetration at all, can't wait for Sturridge to come back. Lambert is very meh, I must say - I don't see how he can fit our style even as a 'plan B'. Even though neither are ideal as 3rd and 4th choice they're okay, just need to get Sturridge fit.

Our central defenders have been dire, we've defended badly for the duration under Rodgers, but it's even worse now. And if Lovren is the answer, that really scares me - for now and for Rodgers future signings. It's obviously too early to tell, but things are very alarming.

So many question marks right now. I just can't see this getting much better for a few weeks whilst key players return and the new ones gel. Looks like we are going to have to win the CL to stay in it.

From what was being said by various sources over the summer, we made enquiries about all of them. Sanchez was the clearest rejection as I think that even Barca wanted him to be part of the deal.

My point is more about how we can't force top players to join us if they don't want to, and clearly no top players were falling over themselves to join us.
