Just wondering how we are going to fit in all these players next season. In Mid Field alone we have
Emre Can - Needs to play in the middle of the park, he has too much potential and is rated to highly to waste regardless of how effective he was at CB, lets not talk about RWB
Lucas - When fit he plays and he contributes, never quite reached his peak before he got injured seriously the first time when he was one of the best Mid Fielders in the world. He is one player I could see go ( we have just too many mid field players some of them have to leave ) That said if we are playing a DM then someone has to back up or rotate the starting DM
Allen - Tidy player on his day, has not set world on fire since signing for Liverpool, great squad player but he would be top of my list to sell. He is still rated high enough for a lower club to fork out a decent wodge of cash on
Hendo - Probably the first name on the team sheet, although I thought he tailed off quite severely last season
James Milner - He would start LCM for me
Coutinho - we build the team around him

So if we say we want to get Hendo Milner,Can and Coutinho into the team our formation options are basically a diamond or 4231,
Then there is Kovacic, were does he play ?
Lallana - we spent a lot of money on him - Seems criminal to have him on the bench, I rate him very highly
I am quite confused with the look of the squad right now ... its not like we have a clear 442 starting 11 with obvious back ups in each position ... its a real hodge podge of footballers all very similar, none of them really getting played exclusively in there best postions do instead of a team of rated 8 to 9s we are getting 7s who sometimes drop to 6 or 5 in ratings

If we make a glass is half full assumption that we manage to sign clyne ... then would this be are best 11 ?

Your premise is flawed in that people believe that we should always be signing better players than we have now. The first tier player becomes a sub and the sub gets sold.

Of course we can't accommodate every player, we rotate with subs if a first teamer gets injured.

Ok so out of the subs, realistically you can sell 2 Wisdom and Balotelli. Ballotelli obviously I am not going to shed a tear but at the same time easy said then done. Wisdom, whilst I would like to keep him and give him a run in the senior team, if he did indeed go, fine. So that frees up two places in the starting 11 by your rules. Who out of that starting 11 do you put on the bench. I suppose Ingis is an obvious choice but hell we have just signed the lad and he does have bags of potential if you ask me, potential he will only achieve if he plays. I still say our squad whilst full of decent players .. lacks balance ... I am probably completely wide of the mark, but more so than previous season the ins / outs and our best formation seem like a complete enigma to me right now

Pointless putting line ups on here until we know who we are signing.

I like clyne and we do need a right back but after that I wouldn't bother spending any more money on the defence. We will still concede in the region of 50 goals this season so it becomes a matter of how many we score.

Purely for that reason I think whatever finances we have should go on the attack because we probably need to score 3 goals a game to get back into champions league contention.

I think it's not players in general it's team strategy and being used to one another. How often did we field an unchanged defence? Only time we did was the back 3 of Can, Skrtel & Sakho, which was excellent. We only dropped when one of those got injured / suspended.

So by my reckoning we've already signed 5 players this off season with one from last year also coming here for the first time (Origi).

We probably still need a striker of a similar quality to Sturridge and possibly a right back as well.

                  1. Origi
                  2. Ings
                  3. Milner
                  4. Bogdan
                  5. Gomez
                  6. Firmino
                  7. Top Class Striker
                  8. Right Back

Is anyone else a bit worried that 8 new players is too many given that Rodgers struggled so badly last season in part due to the time it took to bed in the 8 new signings from last summer's spending spree?

its not like we will ever be playing those new eight together, and much of the dross they will replace were not even getting a game so its a big squad improvement with some certain starters coming into the first team.

I dont think bedding in was the main problem at the start of last season, we actually started pretty well, beat Southampton, were the better team at City until they scored and smacked Tottenham all over London with Manquillo and Moreno playing like they'd been here years, Lovren was in that defence to and we won to nil. Then it was an international break and Sturridge got crocked and we suddenly had no firepower.

It is a lot to try and bed in but from that list Origi, Ings, Bogdan and Gomez are all likely to be either back ups or not initially expected to be first choice for the first team from the start of the season.

I think we'll definitely see a RB come in but I am less convinced we'll see a new striker coming in and certainly without us offloading 2 maybe 3 on the books at the moment (Lambert, Borini and Mario) hope we do see another striker as I think we could certainly do with some extra fire power.

Once we get all our buys in early and all get rid of the outgoings in time for pre season, we can have a full pre season playing our new players & concentrate on building our best 11 before the league starts.....hopefully anyways.

                            Possibly 4231 next season?

it'll likely be 433- so swap Lallana with Can and drop him back. Also, swap Sturridge with somebody else as the man with legs of jelly can't be relied on.

                              Thats my bet

I agree its our overall defensive strategy of lack of that's the issue. It doesn't matter who plays in defence we will still leak goals. But I do like Nathaniel clyne.
