Random thought, what do people think about Gomez being the leftback if we are sticking with the inverted fullback.

He’s played there before and can play as the left sided CB. he’s got the pace but doesn’t have to join the attack. We can have a proper back 3 and if VVD is in the middle he’d have Konate and Gomez on either side with plenty of pace which might give VVD a bit more help and protection as well considering he’s lost a bit of pace as well.

Nothing random about it - both Jaco and I have said this many times and he’s played LB when he first joined us. For me it gives us much more solidity and a serviceable attacking option

I’d curious how we’d go with it now. It could help blood in younger CB’s as well.

Would you go 343? Or would you maybe play 2 up top with 3 in the middle with one as a 10? Could suit some of our players to have 2 holders and a 10 and most of our mids could cover both roles. Plenty of flexibility.

We have plenty of options with most players in midfield and the attackers being able to play multiple positions.

And are there any players that could get converted into the wingback role since there’s more protection defensively.

I think we could use both systems depending on the oppositions style of play. 352 would be interesting with our current squad & could be quite fluid too.

With no new signings, he's going to be absolutely crucial this year. Superb performance.

He's such a good player. Konate has also been very good.

Their biggest chance was a result of him falling on his hole. Not quite undroppable but with a lack of options his form is at least encouraging.

That was excellent defending to get in front of the player and win the ball. The slip was just a random occurrence and secondary to the actual defending.

I'd tend to agree except for the random occurance. It's not the position you want to randomly trip tbf. Let's call it what it was, a mistake.
