Not that it's the point, but Wenger never sold Overmars and Petit because they were ****. Same with Anelka and Vieira. They may or may not have gone on to better things but that's irrelevant. Wenger would've kept all of those if he could've done. You could also argue that he would've been better off keeping Upson insteading of buying in ****e like Stepanovs, it was only when Toure came along that he fixed that one.
Part of the problem with Pennant, in my opinion, is that he thinks he's "made it". He probably thought he'd "made it" when he moved from Notts County to Arsenal when he was 15. I've heard him in interviews saying "it's a great achievement to be here at Liverpool".

I don't think he's good enough in terms of ability, but there are players who lack ability but go some way to making up for it with the right mentality. Pennant isn't a winner, IMO, and isn't cut-out for playing for Liverpool Football Club.

He looks a fish out of water to me.

That's probably the fairest and most honest assesment I've heard. I couldn't agree more with you.

Exactly. I thought he was ****e again yesterday, but it's only at the end of the season when I think it's fair to judge yay or nay.

I think that's a common feeling and the reason why people - me included to an extent - are so pissed off with him, moreso than with some of our other signings who have been lacklustre so far.

I agree to an extent Shaggy but I think it's subtly different. Corrent me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure Pennant's commented on Rafa, saying he's a tactical genius or something like that?

I agree that he's a fish out of water, but I disagree that he thinks he's made it. I think he's realised that he was wrong to be a cocky ******* in the first place. Rafa has probably introduced him to football tactics and ideas that he's never even considered before, and as a result he's questioning himself, which is leading to his low self confidence and frankly **** performances.

Plus he's adjusting to a new club, new people, new faces, new expectations and a 7m price tag. His poor form doesn't surprise me one bit tbh.

People keep saying pennant has no excuse because he played in the prem and saying he has no excuse so why are there not threads on here like this about players like carragher who has no excuse, finnan also had a crap first season and went on to do well for us,pennant has not even been here that long.

                Spot on post.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Because Carragher has had about four outstanding seasons on the trot for us, and to a lesser extent so has Finnan. Granted they've both been **** this season, but that's not the point.

I admire your ongoing and stoic defence of your namesake, but frankly.......he's ****. He's ****ing ****.

Yeah, Potter was the worst player I've ever seen play for us.

So, Pennant shades it for me. Just.
