I'm all for using the squad, but let's at least keep things uniform. If we are going to play a 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 formation in the league, then play that in the other tournaments too; that way should any of the fringe players play their way into contention, it'll be the same system that they demonstrated that ability in

So Pearce and others are saying 3 at the back (Gomez, Toure, Sakho)

With Ibe, Rossiter, Can, Moreno ahead of them.

And Lallana/Coutinho behind Origi.

Well, I'm uninspired all of a sudden. I expect Toure, Sakho (first game back), Rossiter, Moreno and Lallana (first game back) to be absolutely useless. Will need a piece of magic by Coutinho again and Origi to ensure he hits the target when he gets the chance.

Edit: BT Sport have the programme starting at 5.30pm, so kickoff might be 5.45pm or 6pm. Don't get caught out as I nearly did.

I really hope not. I really don't see the point of shoehorning players into unfamiliar positions. It just sets us all up for failure. And in the case of Can, I can't understand how the Germans & Loew (who have actually won stuff) see him as their future midfield general but Rodgers (who has won **** all) continues to have not the slightest clue where to play him.

Yup doesn't make sense, play players in their natural positions or don't play them at all.

I would be surprised if we went to 3 at the back but I wouldn't be suprised in Can plays RB in a back four. I don't want either to happen by the way.

Also I wouldn't be suprised if Gomez has travelled but doesn't play, he's played every game so far, I don't see the point in him playing in this one, but he could have gone along to give him experience of what goes on at European away games, so I think he could be on the bench for this one.

I'm more than happy to switch formations for important games.

I wouldn't class this as one of those games. And as we are really struggling, I think it's best we play the systems Brendan intends to move forward with for the rest of the season. Of course, Brendan tends to bin off his failed 433 as the season progresses, so if he started to do that tonight instead of waiting a couple more months, I'd be very pleased.
