I would assume he would put out a second 11, they might lose but there would be less pressure on him if the second 11 lose than if the first 11 lose, also he could be using the 'extra' time with the first 11 to work on tactics for the weekend

We need a win though desperately & the players need games to get sharp. He needs to find ans stick to a set up that gets the best out of the players he has asap. Personally I think the next two league games are massive for Rodgers & IMO he'll field a strong side vs Bordeaux...their a decent enough side. He can't afford another loss, at least a win vs Bordeaux will take the pressure off a wee bit. Benteke, Firmino, Ings, Moreno, Ibe, Lucas & Coutinho all needs games to get match sharp.

While agree we desperately need a win, I don't think the players can play 2 games in a few days and I don't think Rodgers can prepare teams and tactics for two game in a few days I think playing the same team in both could be counter productive.

EL qualifying probably hurt them in the league and they had some semi-tricky away ties at the start of the year (St Etienne, Lille, PSG). And they did manage to draw with PSG 2-2, which is sort of impressive even if Trapp hilariously gifted them both goals.

Khazri and Saivet are really the only two individual talents in the squad, both attacking mids. Khazri's got 3 in 4 this year, he'll end up somewhere better in the next year or two. We were supposedly interested in Rolan last summer but he's a bit ****. Sertic and Plasil are both out so they're weak in midfield at the moment. Not a great side but they'll finish upper mid-table in that league. Given our current form I wouldn't be surprised if they trouble us.

Is Sertic 100% out? Big blow for them if so. He is a good organiser in the centre, and pretty good at disrupting play.

Sane is useful for them as well and he could well give our attackers a tough 90 minutes if he is still not out .
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

He ruptured some knee ligaments in early August, he's out until January I believe. Been a loss for them for sure. Sane's still out for them too as far as I know.

That could easily backfire though, he needs to get a win on the board and quickly. I'm not suggesting he plays the obvious first 11 either - just makes judicious changes like playing Origi and Ings together with Moreno, Coutinho and Sakho starting.

Of course a win here will buy him time but the problem is that we cannot beat any sort of mildly functioning side. When we have, there's always been an element of luck involved. The only chance we'll have is if they turn up with their shorts on their heads and laces tied around their ankles.

Alas Balotelli is in Milan not Bordeaux!

Adam Bogdan is set for his Liverpool debut on Thursday & Belgian striker Divock Origi also expected to make his first start. (Bascombe)

There will be opportunities for Sakho & Toure to put pressure on the underperforming centre half partnership of Lovren & Skrtel. (Bascombe)

Origi is a no brainer as he'll know the opposition well enough.

I swear, if he starts with ****ing Toure, he should be sacked alone for that. We need to be finding a defensive partnership that can carry us through the season and Toure can't be relied upon at this stage of his career.

Deliberately partnering Sakho with Kolo the clown and secretly hoping they look **** - which most likely they will.
I'd love to see Gomez and Sakho together - could be a partnership for years to come but not if this manager has anything to do with it.

Excellent stuff. Utilise the squad, that's what it's there for.

I had hoped we'd rotate heavily for this tournament, maybe even two completely different 11s. I feared his poor start in the league might make him go with his "best" 11 to try and avoid another defeat though so hopefully that won't be the case.
