Some players just don’t have it, look at TAA making mistakes but he has enough about him to show very clearly he has massive potential here, unlike Dominic. We need much better back up to Firmino

      Haha

Still doesnt change the fact that he is severely lacking in virtually all the departments required of a front player

        No chance

I think Kenneth said it best, what are his strengths

Is he a predator in the box - NO

Does he have good touch and ability to hold the ball up well - NO

Dribbling or tons of pace - NO

Is he good in the air and could he be a batterring ram of a play - NO

I actually think Ings is miles better than him as he shows good movement and works his nuts off - still doesnt make him worth keeping mind

It would be great if he came good, but it doesn't look likely in any timescale that works for us.

Punt him on loan next year, hope he has a good one and then sell.

I'd rather see Ings playing in the CF position (given the limited reserves). He worked hard on Sat but would have been more productive through the middle.

Not saying he's a great player but he's reasonably strong I thought and no slouch if not quite at NGog levels of pace. HA HA HA NGog was molasses slow

you'd also think that domonic is more suited to running the wing, with him being so lanky
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

I'm not sure what his record was like for Chelsea youth teams but his record for England youth level is pretty good, particularly in the World Cup and Euros his age group won. He also looked a decent finisher in pre-season. Plus in one of his few outings recently for U-23's he scored a hat-trick.

He has a cracking touch, some nice skills too I've noticed - very clever on the ball for a big lad. Will be great for him to get his first goal.

Very encouraging performance last night, think it took some of the burden off Firmino who as always worked his arse off yet again last night.

He's got good feet, his close control is decent and he always looks to get a teammate in which shows he's not selfish and that he's a team player. He can head as well, again an area we are lacking in and have done for us. These Chelsea London lads seem to be of a better quality to what we have here up North. He'll do well, he'll be a huge hit. Can't wait for him to bang one in at Stamford Bridge it'll be hilarious. And it will happen.

Obviously these posts don't prove anything, just people's opinions. The point is when he was scoring in preseason, the general consensus was he looked a good all round player. He looked strong, fast and a decent finisher. At one stage fans were calling for him to be our No.1 striker. It hasn't worked out for him so far in the first team and it maybe never will. Maybe if that West Brom goal wasn't disallowed we'd be having a whole different conversation, but it seems that because he hasn't scored he suddenly has lost these attributes that he was previously getting praised for.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

if its a "nerves" thing and people think that when he gets one they will start rattling in then hes never going to do it.
a good striker is more sure of himself, cocky and ruthless.

too timid... be brave and take your chance, or it will be off to stoke with you...
if that doesnt make him get his mind right then nothing will.

I actually think he has all of those attributes, just none at a high level... If that makes any sense. He does 'stuff', but it results in nothing.

Right now he's twenty, which means there's still time, but it's also an age at which a lot of players show a lot more. He should be playing regularly, that's first. I don't know why Klopp was so strongly opposed to loans at first, but look at how great Grujic and Wilson are now doing in the Championship. Before that they were rotting in the u23s. Ward... Basically ****ed now, after a year of promise with Huddersfield. Solanke should be out too, he's offered absolutely nothing as a bench option here.

But I think we should still consider him as a prospect. I will always maintain that we shouldn't sell young talented players, just loan them out. I thought that with Shelvey, Coates, Luis Alberto, Suso, etc., and I some cases we were right to sell, but in some we weren't. But even with Shelvey and Coates we could have gotten bigger fees if we sold them later. (Ok Suso left on a free so that's a bit different, but maybe he left because there was no way here for him to get some game time, had we arranged a good loan for him that might have been different).

Anyway Solanke... A year in the Championship and we'll see what he's really like. If we have him here for another season doing nothing then I'm afraid he won't even have a career in the championship.

Pretty decent young player all round. Needs to show a bit more than that to be getting half-regular games with us, let alone make it here.

I don't think you can judge players until they have had a run of games. The odd game here and there and 20-30mins from the bench every 3 weeks isn't going to help him develop an understanding with his teammates and learn what his role is/would be.

The problem is that in order to get a run in the team he either needs to wait for injuries to those ahead of him (which we all hope doesn't happen) or he has to show what he can do in one of the brief opportunities he gets, which would get him more opportunities. The Everton game was an ideal opportunity for that, but he wasn't able to take it.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
