Brilliant. The extended look on the keeper's face and not just because he fumbled a weak grass cutter from Foden.
    One tit for another.

Hard to see where he fits. he seems too slow, and wont slot into any of the fowward positions like for like.

Could be a good:"plan b"... but needs games to hone his game. we also need to learn to adapt to a target man. We do put in a faur few crosses, so I do see a way for him to be effective in our team.

He's no slower than Firmino, faster arguably.

I’m not sure the lack of games will help his development but I’m not a manager hey.

I dont think he is a withdrawn striker, suitable to replace firmino like for like (although I have not seen enough of him to be sure). and he does not have the pace to play wide. if he did play centrally, then we would need to change the shape a bit

Firmino doesnt need to be quick because his best play is between the lines

Solanke doesnt have the technical ability to do that, and doesnt have enough pace to stretch defences the other way

His hold up play is also shocking so thats another black mark against him. Personally I think hes not good enough for us despite what he manages for England U21 or whatever

Yep. Basically my thoughts on him as well.

Linked with a January loan to Rangers. Probably lazy journalism, but would be a good move if so.

For me, I think Solanke is good at so many things, but just not excellent at any at this stage of his career. He's pacy enough IMO, works hard, decent finisher, good in the air. The potential is definitely there, he just needs game time to develop.

On the pace subject, I don't think he's any slower than the likes of Kane, so it shouldn't be a problem. If he doesn't kick on and establish himself as a top PL striker, I don't think it will be because of lack of pace.

I bought up pace because I dont think he could play centrally, not in klopps system.

I dont think he is mobile enough to provide a threat from out wide.

Dirk Kuyt is probably closest to how I see him developing, but I always thought he was useful against better sides which allowed his work rate to become important. I dont think a player like that priovides much attacking threat from a wide position unless they can cross onto a pinhead. Regardless we have better options to Solanke both wide and centrally.

What he may give us is a more direct option, when played centrally. But in doing so we would lose a link between attack and defence that Firmino provides which I feel is vital to our current style of play.

What I think he can give Klopp is a different option providing Solanke can develop into a quality player, but that Klopp would need to change the teams shape to exploit him. He does not at all slot into the current setup.

Kid needs a loan to get some game time, has looked way below the required standard even for a squad player.

agreed, but I hate it when we write players off this early, especially when they hardly play.

I thought that he should have gone out on loan last year, as he had hardly played at any level for Chelsea in his last year there. At the moment he is seemingly behind Firmino, Sturridge and Origi (and possibly Brewster) he needs games, as if he carries on at this rate he will have barely played competitive football for 3 years. The kid looks to have talent but if he doesn't play he will never develop. The situation with him seems odd to me.

Maybe we can trade him for Dodi Lukebakio. I feel more confident of his ability.
