Is this Solanke you are referring to? Lethargic is hardly a word I'd use to describe him. Quite the opposite, he puts so much energy into his game that he can rush things or snatch at a shot.

No doubt he's still raw but I like the energy and pressing he brings to the game. The outside of the right boot pass to Moreno shows he has a deft touch. There are not many 6 ft plus players who have both the speed and energy that he possesses with the willingness to work hard. Taller forwards often take longer to mature in a footballing sense than faster, smaller players as it takes more game time for them to use their physicality to their advantage.

Far too soon to write him off IMO.

Was referring to him last night, looked lethargic to me although I understand it was hot out there. I’ve written him off and you are free to quote me on that. Happy to eat my words but he just hasn’t got it

All very reasonable, but he doesn't have enough at present to be getting games for us. He may develop into a quality player for someone, but it almost certainly won't be for us.

Resurgence of Sturridge on the other hand is very very good news

The resurgence of sturridge hasn't actually happened yet. Playing well in a couple of preseason games, although encouraging, doesn't really count,

I'm with you on this, I think that Solanke will come on this year if he can get a few games under his belt.

ditto. It’ll be like Crouchy. How many did he play for us before he finally scored? Once he did it was like London buses.

Crouch was linking play really well, despite not scoring.

I'm expecting a perfect hat-trick against Arsenal next time we play them .

I took a quick look at a few of the games towards the end of last season where he was playing and he did well. In the Brighton game for example he set up Mane for a one on one with the keeper, then set up Salah for the first goal before smashing one into the top corner himself. His all round play is good, he's direct and positive, has an eye for a pass and is decent in the air. I think he gives us a decent back up option to rest our strikers and offers more than Origi.

                              Crouch was playing.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I was at that match. We had seats by the corner flag at the Kop end. I was on telly for a couple of the goals!
