Thought he had a very good game and definitely benefitted from having all three of the others on the field with him. He normally has to slot in alongside two of them, but having Firmino in behind meant he had more options and the pressure wasn't on him to lead the line by himself.

Might be a handy option for the smaller teams coming to Anfield - drop Firmino into midfield and let Solanke play up front.

I still reckon we need better coming off the bench.

One swallow doesn't make a spring and all that. A decent loan for Solanke and then bring him back if he does well. If we had someone pushing Firmino, then we wouldn't need to rely on him being able to play 40 plus games per year.

Though I thought he played well yesterday, he was playing in effectively as the spear head of a front 4... against Brighton... and he still only had one clear chance (albeit he scored). A loan will be the making or breaking of him.

Much better. This was probably his best game for us and I still felt he was lacking in his allround game. A great striker with that three feeding you would have had a hattrick.

I know the 2 in CM was forced a bit but it does show there's room for another striker with Firmino able to drop into the number 10 role.

We do need better, or for him to really push on. But that said, he's still better than this

One of the worst players ever for me, given he cost us £30 million. I couldn’t stand big **** Chris for us.

He missed 2 or three of those didn’t he..?

Can’t even get in the Palace eleven now.

Some interesting comparisons in terms of minutes played before first goal here:
                    Solanke 670
                    Keane 688
                    Rush 813
                    Crouch 1229

Knew it. Big Dom is better than Rushie.

To be fair to Crouchie, he was playing some really good football... whereas Solanke has generally looked poor.

Of course Crouch was first choice whereas Solanke has been getting a few mins here and there, usually with the teams playmaker Firmino rested. So its not really comparable.

I think Solanke has the attributes to be an effective plan b to Firmino... he is still very young.

I wonder if it would've gone in without that deflection

I'm not sure it did deflect? I keep looking at it and I think he just hits it high because of the pressure.

Liverpool have agreed an undisclosed fee with Chelsea for striker Dominic Solanke – some 12 months after he moved to Anfield.

The ECHO understands that the Reds had initially valued Solanke at around £3million with Chelsea demanding closer to £10million. Now a compromise has been achieved so there is no need for a tribunal. LINK
....He'll be sold pretty soon imo
