A lot being made of Salah's form after last AFCON, so some basically writing him off for the season.
Much like the toll two seasons ago took on our players last year, people have to consider the toll that losing the final had on Mo. He was best player in the word going into that competition and losing the final in such cruel circumstances, with the expectation of a whole country on his shoulders, clearly had a massive impact. There is nothing to suggest that the same will happen this time. Even if it ends in crushing disappointment again, he may find better ways to process the disappointment.
Then there is the flip side of the coin, Mane (who was also written off by some) came back rejuvenated and finished the season strongly playing CF (I think that was the same year, but couldn't be arsed checking
).
Without checking, I'm also assuming Mahrez probably came back and scored a load of late winners to help City lift the title.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Positive: some brilliant assists (‘almost’ assists) in there. Control, spotting runs/movement, weight of pass.Originally posted by Irishnev View Post
Negative: how **** is our finishing?
Another MASSIVE game

2 goals, 2 assists and the key pass in Jones goal. And a missed pen.
We will miss him over the next how ever long. We 100% need someone to fill the gap, score some goals and create. Hopefully the other forwards will embrace the responsibility.
Say what you like about Salah (and many do) but he is relentless. Always looking to score and create. And always available.
Joint top scorer in the League, finally catches Haaland and he has to leave for a month
Modifying post.

Scores 2. One a tap in. The other a free hit from the penalty spot after missing one from same position in the first half. Great assist for gakpo. Then it's all about getting the glory of a hat trick when jota was the obvious pass for a tap in. He's not going to change now, that's been mo throughout his liverpool career. All good 3 points.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post2 goals, 2 assists and the key pass in Jones goal. And a missed pen.

2 goals 2 assists 1 key pass leading to a goal. I dont mind him going for goal at 4-2 up with those stats.
It makes me laugh that Mo scoring tap ins is used against him. As if its so easy. Same with assists, nobody has more than him in the entire league.Modifying post.

I think thats the problem.Although his age and contract mean we have a business decision too.
The problem we have is legacy. There is a ridiculous expectation that we will find the next Salah, and they will somehow be better. We have an unbroken line of god tier strikers.
Mo is not playing at his "best", but we still have the expectation of a 40 goal a season hitter. We also lack cohesion up front at the moment, although today was a bit better.
I guess we are still a bit "****" at the moment, but that shows that we have a lot of room for growth. Again I think the problem was we were so good under Klopp 2-3 years ago, expectations are so ****ing high becuse we all believe in Klopp... any misfires and we automatically expect klopp to be able to counter and adjust just like that.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

He’s only missed 10 PL games in 6 and a half seasons. Extraordinary! Absolute machine. There is no doubt Salah will be a huge miss for Klopp's side, but they have fared well without him in the past.
They are unbeaten in all 10 Premier League games in which Salah has not appeared, since he joined in 2017-18.Another MASSIVE game
