Already hit his second half of the season form, though

On one hand it is worrying. But we dont know the figures. He might be asking for something ridiculous that prevents us from bringing more players in. Or maybe we are waiting for his form to drop off so we can negotiate from a position of strength.

I doubt he is going to sign with anyone else at the moment. The fact he wants to stay with us is heartwarming. Its not just about the money, but he wont sell himself short either (I remember when Fowler re-signed and the story was he didnt even read the contract... might have been a joke though). It could be about the length of the contract too. My biggest worry is who we bring in to replace him. Those numbers are astronomical.

I do hope he gets a new contract and I do think he deserves it. When we were being potentially offered up to £200m I'd have let him go, but there's no point now. He should end his career with us.
