Think we should take some respite from contract worries to simply appreciate what an absolute dude he is

I'm trying to imagine how much of a weapon I'd look in pretty much all of those outfits

One thing with Salah, as there are some intangibles at play here, which I am sure the club are aware of. He is on track to being one of the most prolific strikers in the history of the club. He will go past Michael Owen, Gerrard, Dalglish and Fowler in 30 goals time.

        He has also delivered trophies.

We tried to replace the sum of the parts with multiple signings when Suarez left - so we know how hard that is. A signing like Salah is pure alchemy. The only guarantee is we will not replace it if we try to. There are so many elements at play in a signing like this coming off.

I am sure the ****ing nano-geek stat boys at the club are all over this, but letting someone like Salah leave in the prime of his career, with the form that he is in and with a view to his standing in the overall history of the club just cannot be an option.

I think if someone offered £150m then they'd cash in and give Jurgen the cash to buy 3 or 4 players and build the next team. The risks there are that Jurgen might think "nah **** it" and also the fact that Man City might be the only team that would pay that money. (PSG might too but Mo might not want to play in France)
£150m is going to buy us 2 first team players including wages. That doesn't replace Mo

May as well give him the contents of the bank account and shut up shop when he retires.

I totally agree mate. But history suggests that our shared logic might not be LFCs.

When someone was saying we shouldn't be paying him 400k per week, I was thinking "ehhhh?"

For me, it's a no brainer. And in the contract negotiations, his agent could play a blinder by not mentioning what he wants or how good Mo Salah is. Just go in there and say "Oxlade is on £150k per week........you tell us what that makes Mo worth?!?!"

I think where LFC will get their value is by making the contract heavily incentive based.

Christ Mo should be charging Adidas for all of that advertising too

There may be a few stages before that But I wouldnt rule it out. The way football is going who is going to care in 5 years?

Who knows what the hold up is? It has to get sorted before next season begins. I reckon a resolution will be found, and I dont see it going the way it did with Gini, fundamentally because there is a massive difference it what both bring to the table.

The other worry is it going all Aubamayang and we break the bank for Mo and he just ****ing jacks it in and checks out. But his desire to be an all time great suggests his standards will remain high.

He probably is? There's on purpose product placement in each shot.

I think that’s likely what the sticking point is. He reportedly massively exceeds his £200k basic and averages something like £350k from the club because he always hoovers up the incentivised bonuses. As such, an agreement where £400k is achievable would surely have been a 5 minute conversation with FSG?

Seems more likely that he (his agency) feel that his status now demands the £400k (or at least a greater proportion of it) guaranteed rather than being heavily weighted by reaching incentives.

Giving Mo £400k I don't think would be the issue, but it has a knock on effect with other players within the squad and new signings, not necessarily wanting parity but that 400k could become the reference point for all other wage negotiations.

Also, at 29/30, i imagine Mo will be after one last bumper pay day, so if wages aren't the issue length of contract could be. If he wants a longer contract, he could be on big wages but not playing every week as age could catch up with him. We could get round that with a standard weekly wage and supplement it with add-ons, but maybe that is what is delaying things.

All in all, if he doesn't sign, so be it. I think we have a system that gets the best out of Mo at the moment, and if he leaves for another club, he may not be anywhere near as effective.

                            Yeah I was only joking!!!

Real Madrid might sign him for 150m then because they are adidas backed as well.......

Meanwhile we would get Nike's man Mbappe on a free

Whilst I in no way would want to see Salah sold, I do think that we could improve the team whilst not getting someone better than Salah.

For arguements sake let's say we have about 30m to 40m in the kitty and we sell Salah for 150m.

Then we go and buy Lautaro Martinez for 70m, Barella for 60m and Nkunku for his 40m release clause and have a bit of wedge left over for pizza and a decent bottle of whiskey (and yes with an E you heathen scots ).

Are any of those players as good as Salah? Nope not even close.

But could those three players (or three players of a similar level) potentially make our first team a stronger unit? Maybe.

Course my own take is to go down the Fifa22 route and find a way to get players of that level into the same team as Salah
