Perhaps it's because Mane occupies the space he drifts into whereas a player like Firmino would be between attack and midfield so it would leave room for Salah while TAA occupies Salah's space?

Ive thought this for a while.

If Bobby cant get back to his best ( and sadly, I think this may be the case) we need the best false nine money can buy.

Despite the number of goals we have scored, I feel there is a lack of fluidity between the attackers that we used to have between Mane Bobby and Salah at their best.

Talk of rebuild is insane when we’ve competed in all competitions this season and nearly won the lot, which no other team has ever done.

Been a great season to me regardless and we’re the best team in world football. Could have been better but the consistency we’ve shown was exceptional, and even today we’ve turned up and played.

Totally agree with you that the consistency shown over 63 games was for the most part amazing, but every player is a year older. For some that means a year more seasoned, for some it means a year of wear that reduces how effect they are if expected to play as many games again.

Talk of a rebuild or increasing the quality depth is exactly what we should be doing when we hit this level. But not rebuilding just for the sake of shipping out some names because of a perceived bad result.

Add the quality when you are on top or close to the top rather than waiting for a decline to do so. Not saying you are saying to wait for a decline btw.

When it comes to Salah (or Mane or any other player), my preference is to see our best stay with us and add quality alongside them, however if, and it is a big if, any of ours come out and say they want out then s be it, just let Klopp find who he wants and bring them in.

I don’t think the cash in option really exists. Who’s going to buy him for mega bucks this summer, clubs that he would want to go to that is? I don’t see it. So we either get him to sign a disproportionately big and long contract for a fading/aging player or, more sensibly, we let him run his contract down and use the money earmarked for his signing on bonus and extra wages to get his replacement now.

I don't think we were ever cashing in on him, for me it has looked for a while that either he signs a new contract or he leaves on a free. In terms of other clubs looking at him his form across next season will be more telling than what he did or didn't do in the CL final.

We definitely need a few in this summer to create some real competition from the bench. We can't still have Milner as our most reliable squaddie next season. Hopefully one or two of the young lads will really push on.

It’s not really that surprising though. His form has dropped off a cliff and his agent is an absolute weapon. We’ve seen this sort of thing before… players who think they are bigger than the club.

Is that him or his agent though?

Reality is City are the only club who would pay the money he wants and challenge for trophies, he could go to Newcastle but it's not that likely that they will be challenging for major honours next couple of years.

It’s not as dramatic as that. The goals have dropped off, his overall performances haven’t. He’s still doing everything else he ever did, as long as that continues the goals will return too.
