Always sell a player just before their legs go.

With 300k or whatever i'm sure FSG would be willing to listen to offers north of 100m this and next summer.

I love Salah, But anything over 100m I would be taking all day long on the premise that the scouting team are back on point!

          Thats not how it works

They have never taken cash out of the club, and what we spend can depend on current player amortisation.

That said, I do.share your frustration. But balancing the books was an FFP requirement.

I dont think they have willfully acted against the clubs interest in order to make a buck.

It's exact why it is imperative for us to get the recruitment absolutely spot on. Margin for error is so small & we don't want to end up like last season being short in key areas. If Mo goes, then so be it. Just get a big wedge for him and use his bumper wages for two quality players.

Makes sense on paper, big statement signing PSG need every year, best Muslim player of all time, perfect for their sports wash image, huge wage, score **** loads in French league, champs league football & win domestic league every season.

The more you look at the FSG model, let's just call it net spend. The more we need to sell players at their peak, like coutinho and reinvest that. That or sell our souls to some cunt who fancies a billionaire's toy or we convince owners that fan ownership is the future.

We would be able to afford Bellingham.

I’d be concerned if we splashed that kind of money on any one player tbh. Too risky in our position.

that's unfortunately exactly what it rides on. Buying value for money talents with the potential to get better, riding the **** out of them for a few years reaping the benefits & then selling at the perfect time buying in new shiny value for money talents that can also get better.... rinse and repeat. Couple that with also having to be almost perfect in the transfer market in order to compete with City.

So why haven't we been doing that? Should have sold salah or mane 2 seasons ago when the price would have been high. Before the inevitable down spiral in their abilities.

The assumption there is that it is as easy as all that to replace their output. Its a game of having the best players, not of having the most transfers and money to bring players in.

If we had sold Salah 2 seasons ago we most likely wouldnt have had the season where we fought City to the last day and got to the CL final. He was on fire for the first half of that season.

What we are about to find out is if last season was an outlier, or a trend.

The issue here is City, remove them and the last 5 seasons are so much better for us.

Pretty much hits it on the head.

City and everyone else do not come into it for me. All we can look after is our own state of affairs.

We bring in as good a set of new players as we can, we hang onto the players we think have the best chance of returning to an acceptably high level of form (rather than hoping the return to previous highs) and of course the serious bonus of who we have moulding them all into a team.

If the best team we can assemble for 2023/24 is one that contains Salah then so be it. If on the other hand Salah wants out then we will just be hoping that the money we get for him allows us to bring in a couple of players to replace his worth to the team (and I say a couple because short of bringing in someone like Vini jnr I think the only way to replace Salah is by bringing in a couple players that raises the overall quality of the team as a unit than gambling on a single player to replace Salah's individual output).

Salah staying would be my first choice as I think he will be driven this coming season in terms of wanting to rack up a lot of goals and assists and be on the winning team a lot. I do not buy into him being even close to being done at the highest level.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Think if we sold him, then it'd be about the squad as you say as he is probably irreplaceable.

When Coutinho left, we used the money to help sign Virgil, Becker and Fabinho. Much better as a team but the actual replacement for Coutinho wasn't as good. We'd have to do that again.

When Zidane left Juventus, they brought in Nedved as his replacement but also Buffon abd Thuram. And were a much much better team as a result.

So maybe replacing Salah with 3 players would make the team better. I dont know. But if we did go that route, then one of them being a young forward with bags of potential would be a good move...... Someone like Ansu Fati
