It would be just like us to lose the last home game actually Bit of a tricky one, we could do with winning but don't absolutely need to. They need a win.

I would actually prefer us to be in a position where we have to win to qualify

I would too in a funny way. Either way it's going to be unnecessarily stressful. So annoying when we should have the group won

The game itself - typical Jeckell & Hyde LFC, we opened them up so easily and could have had 6 goals from clear cut chances and a few more if we made a good last pass. Mad we scored from two identical set pieces.

Karius doesn't inspire me, what can I say, can't put my finger on why.

Moreno, I've been a big fan of his improvement this year but any given game one of our defenders will blow up and it was his turn. He is just not reliable. His decision making was insane when we needed to keep it tight and simple. Will he start vs Chelsea now....

          Klavan was just ok.

Lovren actually played v well, some great last ditch defending. Win headers, kept it simple but maybe wasted the ball a bit.

Gomez, I've seen Lec get on his case which is a little harsh in my opinion. He was clearly targeted with a cross field ball and he did well, won his headers, beat his man in many 50/50 tussles. He had Nolito, Correa and Muriel on him at various stages of the game which he handled v well.his passing could have been better.

Gini, an enigma. Runs a lot but not on the ball enough but uses it well when he has it. He was winding Banega up in the first half and it worked.

Hendo, hmmm - not good enough for me. No visible motivation for his team, poor in possession and when we were crashing he was was invisible. Ran a lot but can't be a 6 for a top team.

Phil, was on the periphery of the game but they doubled up on him.

Mane was good and you could see him rallying the troops.

Bobby scored two, missed a sitter, worked hard and gave the ball away cheaply from time to time. His usual!

Salah was also good but missed a sitter also, maybe even two.

Milner and Can steadied it and I thought we would see it home then!

The red was a DISGRACE- genuinely every 50/50 was against us!

Seville are no great shakes and we should have won both games comfortably yet we conceded 5 in the two games. Banega dropped deep in the second half and he ran the show.

We badly need a CB, LB (Robbo?) and two CMs (Keita + 1).

Still though great night and in my home without too much damage. The last champions league away game I went to also finished 3-3 where one team came back from 3 nil down at half time....I'll mention that now

**** me if true about their manager, poor fella.

They were so far ahead of us technically though, you can't really up your level in that sense and we were nowhere near them. You would have thought with them pushing so high we could have caught them on the break (nearly did once with Emre) but they gave little away.

Henderson was absolute ****, worst midfield performance I can remember seeing at the club. 55% passing accuracy, 0 tackles won, 5 fouls conceded. He basically put them through one v one in the first half too.

I just want to state about Gomez

I dont think hes terrible (like Moreno) but I just dont think hes as good as some are saying

Secondly for me Wijnaldum is anonymous in far too many games, he doesnt win enough tackles to be a midfielder and whilst Henderson is no great shakes either when you are carrying someone like Wijnaldum its bound to make you look **** also

Not having a go Lec, I respect your opinion in most cases but with Gomez I think there is a real player there. He has a chance to become a top player IMO, seems v calm, has the physical attributes and also will learn a lot from games last night

As I said I'm not convinced of that

Highs and lows all in one game or what ,

Front 4 destroyed them at will , should of been dead and buried

Second half bad case of Deja Vu , seen 10 minutes out with nine behind the ball and the game would have been done.

Their goal lifted the crowd and team and we lost all shape and passing.

Think it shows we need personnel in Midfield and Defence to make us genuine challenges.

Banega what a player on the ball , reminded me of Alonso for us,

I love seeing someone control the game but wish we had someone who could do it

Being at the game did you see his positioning? It was worse than Moreno's, he has no idea how to stay in line. Gomez has got better though, but I'm firmly in the unconvinced camp (obv).

He wasn't the problem last night, the lack of game management and our midfield were the main culprits IMO. Banega ran the show and yet nothing was done to him. We see young Phil being man marked and on occasion Messi, sometimes when a player is running the show you have to sacrifice one of your own - it's effective yet we conceded 2 with Wijnaldum, Henderson (who lost his head big time in the second) and Coutinho... that was too lightweight away when under the cosh.

Something odd is up with Can, he's no panacea but he's better than Wijnaldum yet the latter is being favoured recently - i can only ascribe that to the contract situation.

They obviously had identified Gomez as a target pre game, they kept hitting cross field balls trying to go over his head. He won many of them as headers and won most of the duels when he didn't win the first header. They also over loaded him down that side and again he did well for me. The clear thing is that his decision making was good and he had the physical attributes to cope well.

He was beside me all second half and he looked along the line and a number of times they were offside on his wing. The Banega thing was clear second half and our midfield anonymous when digging in and scraping for the second ball.

There was a lot of hype around Nzoni who was not good in the first half either

Can tried hard but he bottled two 50/50 tackles and the crowd were on it like a shot, claiming he was minding himself for his summer transfer

Yeah, he had plenty on his plate alright - and to be fair to him, he did well. We did get enough offside traps alright so maybe i'm being too harsh there.

I said before the first game Nzoni and Banega on paper are an ideal partnership but i felt we allowed Banega to be that good by sitting off him.

Nzonzi was poor and came off at half time, in the first have we pushed up and he had no out ball when he got it from the CB. They played Banega in his position second half and he found all the gaps in our midfield and there were loads of them!
