They weren't until they nobbled our best player though. Starting lineup Vs starting lineup, I reckon we win.Originally posted by Rigadon View PostThought our defence played well. Midfield struggled. Mane clearly our best player.
I think Real Madrid were the better side but the keeper errors certainly helped them.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

If Salah stays on the pitch, we win that game IMO.
When Lallana came it , it was like playing with 10 men. He's been injured for most of the season, and we had no other options to bring on. Real Madrid could commit more men forward, with only Mane to fear, as Firmino was dropping too deep as well. Before that injury, they had another body to consider, but after that, they didn't have to worry too much.

Unless he was playing in goal it wouldn't have mattered.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostSo who was our man of the match?
I reckon it was Lovren, Mane or Robbo. They were excellent today.
Special mention to Wijnaldum too.
I wonder how we'd have done with Oxlade in the team today?

That moment was wrapped up. Up to that point a goal in the 15-20mins left takes it to extra time, needing two in that time without our best player is an ask of Istanbul proportions.Originally posted by McDermotX View PostIf there's an image in my head from that game it's Dejan (who had a good game to be fair) dropping to his knees as soon as Karius lets that third one through his hands.
Absolutely devastatedThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

For all his doubters, and I'm one of them, Lovren did well tonight. Robbo was great. Though Mane was just what I would expect of him. Ox would've started and done well, no doubt.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostSo who was our man of the match?

We were still well in that game at half time and it ended one proper goal each. We hit the post and got in good crossing positions. We were never going to get control of the game back, but you don't need that to get a result, as a number of **** teams have shown against us this season.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostIt's easy to point the finger at Karius, but the truth is when Salah went off that was more or less it, we don't have the depth of squad to win a game like this. Look at the subs we made Lallana as a replacement for Salah, I like Lallana, but I don't think he's fully fit and he offered very little today, but he was our best option. Compare that to Madrid, who had Bale that came on and won the game for them.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years
