Jürgen Klopp has provided detail on the shoulder injury that has sidelined Alisson Becker.


The Brazilian goalkeeper is not part of the squad for the Premier League clash with Aston Villa, as Adrian deputises between the posts.

Alisson sustained the issue in training ahead of the trip to Villa Park – and Klopp expects the No.1 to require further assessment beyond the international break to come.

“Yesterday an incident in training, very unlucky – two players clash with each other, one gets up, one doesn’t. The one who didn’t get up was Ali,” the boss told Sky Sports pre-match.

“So, after the first few things, we don’t know 100 per cent. But he cannot play today. We have to do further assessment; but he’s injured, let me say it like this. Now we hope it will go really quickly.

“It’s an international break, I’m pretty sure after that he will not be ready. Then we have to see week by week.”

Collided with someone in training,if it was a muscle injury i would be more worried.

a lack of concentration and split second slower to the ball or to react to shots will cost us points if they're not bang at it. We've seen that with Leeds on Saturday.

Feel like that’s a myth tbh- I want us to beat City this year, as much as I did the last 2 years, when they were champions. It’s not like we were nobodies last year- are you saying that teams will be more up for beating the champions of England than they were up for beating the champions of Europe?? Teams have always wanted to beat us, and over the last 2 years especially, not too many have been able to! I’m not saying we’re definitely going to be as dominant this season, but it’s not like teams are going to give us a harder run out just cos we’re champions!

Norwich last season created more against us and limited us to fewer chances than Leeds did too.
