No qualms with the VVD booking, yes he won the ball but the studs up follow through onto the Napoli pillock's ankle was dangerous play. But the ref needs to learn that minimal (or sometimes none) contact and a fake scream of pain doesn't mean foul. But we won, we're through so I shall be magnanimous and turn the other cheek.

I only watched the first half as I had to go to work but there were several questionable decisions against us in that half. VVD yellow not being one of them though. We’d be howling if that tackle was in one of our own. Yes he got the ball but could easily have broken his ankle or leg.

Yes, nice pic, well done, but my point remains. Ref wasn't good, but whingeing was OTT. Some peeps were complaining before we even started. If the ref was as bent as some would like to imagine, we wouldn't have won 1-0. We sound like bitters FFS. We won, we're through. Happy days

He was mentioned pre match because he has reffed us poorly before.
I think he made some pretty questionable decisions, as did most of Anfield.

alright, I disagree but fair enough - some posters were talking about the ref being bent and it's hardly the first time. I just think the constant questioning of the refs here has gone too far and this match thread was more extreme than most. Yeh the quality is generally ****e, but the general consensus that the refereeing fraternity is out to get us is embarrassing and makes us sound like losers. It's the same for everyone, I doubt they're singling us out. And more to the point, if we deserve to win the game, we shouldn't need to worry about the odd decision going against us. If the referee was bent and against us then he did a **** job.
