I'd be amazed as the games continue to pile up and we already see players start to break down if City can win all their remaining games and if they do then you can make a strong case for perhaps they will deserve itOriginally posted by foresterbloke View PostWhich is no good if City win all their remaining games.
We are in this, we are leading this, people quit too easily. We came through our injury crisis, practically all 4 cbs injured our rb injured our striker injured and we are still ahead of them, that's all that matters. I don't think anyone is disputing that we won the midfield battle. We won the ball back and controlled possession, but we did nothing with it and a large part of that was down to the midfielders.Originally posted by Fierce View PostWe won the midfield battle today, can't see how anyone can say different
It was the absolute ****eness of our forwards that cost usThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

One of the big questions I have about yesterday was what was going on with Milner lashing in high crosses at every opportunity? He had alot of the ball in those areas but putting high balls in the box wasted it. Was this a deliberate tactic or something that Milner just did himself? Because it was incredibly frustrating as the forwards we had are unlikely to win headers in their box.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

it wasn't hard to win it as United dropped so deep and let us have the ball knowing well our midfield aren't exactly the most creative bunch. That was the difference with PSG, they have fantastic footballers in thr middle of pitch that csn dominate games and pick a pass whereas we are more workmanlike. In the end was easy for United to defend against us and we seemed content with a point.

Agreed,Originally posted by danperkins View PostStandard though, I think the injuries are what killed our momentum. We looked good first 20 or so and then players start dropping like flies and it killed any sort of momentum we had.
I think a lot of fans are bordering on illiterate when it comes to football. They don't understand the mechanics of the game and live in a Championship Manager 12 world were obviously in these situations you go full-on all-out attack and win the game obviously.
But sometimes the nuances of the game happen, like the ridiculous atmosphere they generated, 70,000 Mancs willing there **** team on, that was their cup final, its a total role reversal ... many many times **** Liverpool teams have beaten United at Anfield over the years ... it happens ... and the fact that to lose that game would have been a disaster and they were still very dangerous even disjointed Pogba can put the ball on a 6pence if you give him time on the ball in your half
I am very happy, we are still edging it, they still have played a boatload of games and even though they have rotated I would not be surprised if in reality, our squad is a lot healthier going into the final stretch.Anybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Nov 2015

...wonder how slow they'd have moved if they were 0-1 down with 10 mins to go.Originally posted by Nicey View PostManchester United staff gave special instructions to the ball boys at Old Trafford to slow down in giving the ball back to Liverpool during Sunday's 0-0 draw.

...and funny how a free kick.. in the box... in the first 2 mins... was largely talked over without hardly a mention by Tyler and Neville... It was as if the game hadn't kicked off yet and they were talking during the warm up.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostI just knew it when we completely ballsed up that free kick in the first minute, we were going to play ****. That free kick just summed up our game...not wily enough and too slow.
Agree though, complete garbage effort of a free kick from such a prime position. This is where we lack in game nous - I remember Gerrard used a little side-footed finish from a similar position, completely out-foxed the wall.

Like when in previous years we misplaced a couple of early passes, you got a **** performance.
Salah free-kick on edge of box was a better chance.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I think the Henderson bashing is a bit silly to be honest. I thought he played okay yesterday. Put it this way, when we saw Shaqiri being readied to come on, it wasn't a certainty for me who would be coming off.
What I did think in the first half is that Milner was getting loads of ball and space on the right hand side - and it might have been a good idea - just for 5 minutes - to swap Henderson and Milner. Milners use of the ball wasn't great.
I thought that the subs were a little bit meh as well to be honest. I would have liked to see Keita come on for Firmino. Let him run at them from deep - and perhaps have Salah and Mane switch positions up top.
What is also somewhat frustrating is that we don't seem to shoot from 20 yards any more. At least check if the goalie is awake every so often.

Agree for the most part... but switching Hendo for Milner would have resulted in more sideways and backwards passing as opposed to over hit crosses or hitting the first man...Originally posted by frank the tank View PostI think the Henderson bashing is a bit silly to be honest. Keita was a given, Shaq looked off the pace (as did most of them) - we really missed Robertson's attacking threat and his link up play with Mane from earlier in the season. Mane was guff yesterday and constantly ran into trouble or mis-read passes...
I'd love us to sign a 'shoot from 20 yards' midfielder - we used to have two with Coutinho and Gerrard. Maybe Harry Wilson is the man for next season if he can step up into the first team? If not, we need to spend on a shooting '#10' to unlock defenses that sit deep and close down space...
