*I can't give Neville too much credit, I had to laugh out loud at his fawning over Pepe "winning a challenge" against Robbo when his first touch was with his hand.

Neville was an absolute disgrace today. VVD and Robertson struggled with Pepe early on, but then dealt with him superbly, as did Wijnaldum, Matip, and TAA, yet Neville (and Tyler) were utterly silent.

You would've thought the DNA of Puskas, Pele, Maradona, Di Stefano, Messi and Ronaldo had been injected into Pepe, and created the GOAT if you heard the commentary.

The Pepe stuff was weird, he looked decent and was threatening a few times, mostly early but they kept making out he was incredible and had destroyed Van Dijk about 8 times and Robbo 20. Neville had a weird obsession with trying to point out how "uncomfortable" Virg was, he was totally himself and was brilliant second half.

Also going on about Arsenal's goal being a "big big goal". Any blind Liverpool supporter listening to that game is probably coming away thinking we've lost or something. Was really strange.

Like most commentors try to encourage that it's an even game when to the casual observer it may not be. But the Tyler/Neville combo is truly terrible. I'm not bitter about it, in fact I'm starting to find it amusing.

I think commentators are briefed to come out with **** like this to try and convince audiences that games are still a spectacle even when they’re over within an hour.

Despite him not actually getting past, as VVD was already alongside and ahead before Pepe stood on the ball.
