Even if the wheels were to falls off from this point on. We get dumped out the Champions League and FA Cup and we win the league by a single point it'd still be considered a fantastic season.
and would sharpen the focus for next year

I think if we had beat United and we'd be on a 35 games winning streak we'd be getting a lot more plaudits than we are currently. Its insane.

The Mancs will have a claim to fame from our success if we manage 37W 1D & 0L lol

In ten years time it would still be their biggest achievement of the 2020s

I think we can be a little greedy and dream of being treble winning, invincible centurions.

I recall this time last season, pundits were saying that both us and City would drop points as it was impossible to keep the focus on the league and Champions league. Clearly this was not the case as we won our remaining fixtures with arguably harder games than this season's run in. We also have the benefit of a winter break and due to our control in most games, we don't seem to expend as much energy as seasons past. Further, injury wise, most players have returned from injury and we have bigger, stronger squad than last season.

As it never has been done before it does seem impossible but if you were looking at it from a purely statistical point of view, it does seem achieveable. Losing focus might become a issue but these mentality monsters have not shown any sign of that yet and although they wont say it publically, I'm sure the players are aware of the potential records and would love to go down in history.

If we can favourable draws in both cups, I think it is more than possibilty and even if we don't, what a season it has been.

              Good post

              It's obviously possible.

But if you were the manager and you had the league wrapped up in March, then it is going to be difficult not to give some players a rest before champions league games. I suspect a lot of our players are not 100% fit - so if someone like Virgil for instance is carrying a bit of a knock, then I suspect he will get rotated.

I think if we get past Atletico Madrid, then the Champions League will be our first priority. Because we will have the league wrapped up.

What will be interesting is how Klopp prioritises after that. Is it the FA Cup or remaining unbeaten in the league?? I think this will cause a lot of debates amongst us fans.

Personally, I would love to see us go for the FA Cup - and rest people in the league. It's another day out if we get to the final. And also, it would deny one of our rivals a trophy too!!!

Also, i have this vision of images of the team / Klopp pictured with all of the trophies we won this season. The Euro Super Cup......the World Club Cup.......the Premier League.

Already that is an amazing season. One of our best ever.

If we ended up with #7 and the FA Cup as well???? Jesus that would never be surpassed

I think if we’re still unbeaten after the city game, we will do it. But I hope it will be a rotated squad bringing it over the line. We saw against the likes of Everton (in December moreso than January) that our backups are more than capable, so I don’t think rotating will necessarily mean the run is over.

players like origi/shaq/ox/Keita will be looking to impress and maybe be first off the bench in big FA cup/CL games.

I wonder once it’s won, will klopp look to get the likes of jones/Elliott/etc enough games to get a medal?? [emoji848]
                  I don't tip

I don't think there will be wholesale rotation. We were rusty against Norwich after a break and we don't want that v a top side in latter stages of CL.

Now 100% certain due to Chelsea dropping points regardless of the ban standing or not. One Spurs and Chelsea play each other next week only 1 can catch us.

Must be comfortably the earliest a team has ever qualified for the CL in any country.

I think it is rotation in defence that will potentially cause us to drop points

looking at 17/18 we finished on 75 points. 25 behind and now 25 ahead. ****ing insane swing.

the streets of Anfield before the Chelsea game are going to be mad.

The coach from the hotel to the ground will practically be a parade in itself.

Also mad how it's swung in quite a neat fashion - 25 behind, then practically level (1 point behind by virtue of a few millimetres at the Etihad) and now 25 ahead
