I love this that I read in one of the comment sections after the match report:

Why all this obsession with this being an understrength Liverpool side and being an under 23 side? At least two of these players have played in the Premier league so are FIRST TEAM players, why weren't they having a winter break? Klopp is a liar and Liverpool are such media darlings everyone hangs on their every word
You can feel the fume of the guy increasing as he writes it
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

      When is the next round?

With the league sewn up, I'd be tempted to go full strength and obliterate Chelsea. Just because we can.
      Oh I don't know.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with these youngsters going forward. As well as they have performed in games this season, the reality is only the likes of Jones, Elliott and Williams are close to breaking into even a 2nd XI (alongside the likes of Origi, Lallana, Lovren etc). But the taste of first team action will have put them in the shop window for loan moves etc. It will be interesting to see if we try to develop these players in the U23s and possibly give them at least league cup time next year or see a significant number go out on loan.

I hope we keep them here, they're surely better under full guidance than have some lesser coach elsewhere stunting their development

It'd be a pleasant surprise if all 3 become regular fixtures in a future Liverpool first team. For the vast majority of the lads last night was the peak of their career.

Sepp Van Den Berg was fantastic wasn't he

He's taken a lot of stick after some dodgy performances, but he was a contender for MOTM last night. Fair play to him.

I am inclined to agree, I think that most would be best staying around at least another year for their development. But I wonder how getting tastes of first team football ahead of when you probably should have them influences your thought process. Does joining a league 1 or 2 side and getting some first team football at that level become more appealing. Not wanting to make their experiences this season into a negative thing because they aren't, but I have no idea what it might do to the mindset of some of the youngsters, we need to make sure that they are kept grounded and don't 'do a Bobby Duncan'

IMO Jones will make it and Elliott has a big chance (hes only young so we need to see how he continues), Williams could make it with us as a squad player

I also think Hoever has a chance of making it with us, still not sure about VDB although he had a decent game last night

Chirivella will go elsewhere (probably back home to Spain) and have a decent career also

What did you make of Adam Lewis considering he's just returned from a long injury layoff? There was a lot of hype around him before right?

Hard to tell from that game

Yeah Gerrard I think rated him really highly

                              Mate just sent this:

                              Bournemouth v Arsenal - 10,000
                              Southampton v Spurs 29,000
                              Man City v Fulham - 39,000
                              Liverpool v Shrewsbury - 52,000

Guess which team apparently disrespected the FA Cup
                              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

So doing basic maths and a bit of guesswork, if we sold 40,000 tickets to adults the gate was £600,000. Hardly disrespectful to Shrewsbury. They'll just have to try and do it again next year and try harder in the league
