On Wednesday I had to go and see my 82 year old mum in hospital (vascular dementia) where she was swinging her handbag at anyone that came near her. She didn't recognise me at first, I had to lie that I was taking her home before pushing her wheelchair into a room where she was pinned down by 4 staff and injected with a sedative. The next day I had to pick her up and lie to her again to get her to go into a care home and couldn't say goodbye to her. She now has 14 days isolation with 1 stranger at a time for covid reasons and the visits are 30 minutes once a week starting in 2 weeks. She can't have a phone because my brother emotionally abused her and may continue to do so.

That all said, I agree with most of your points but I couldn't care less about footy at the moment.

Really sorry to hear that you are going through this man. Does put things into perspective. Stay strong.

Interesting post match analysis from jernaine jenas, breaking down the system leeds used to bypass our ineffective midfield and create options down the wings.

I've lost count of the amount of times we've been found out under Klopp, yet we continue to improve every single year.

That being said, I quite like this narrative that we can be got at if teams can bypass our press and attack in numbers. If teams continue to do that we'll have a field day once we find our rhythm.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Totally. I think more teams should turn up and go toe to toe with us.

Yep - we are more likely to beat Leeds than Arsenal at the moment due to Arsenal's insistence on bus parking. Hopefully when we're sharp we'll get around both tactics.

We'll not be up against a tactician as good as Bielsa every week

                Jermain Jenas the master tactician?

Leeds still lost as far as I know and if we had been a bit more clinical, we would have score two or three more goals. It's great we can do that with an ineffective midfield.
                Are we winning?

I suppose it easier for him with hindsight and stop/go video tech.
I only saw a bit of the game so it was good to have to the benefit of their perspective.
                  Our midfield were often spectators.

Just watched this, how Jenas explained how Leeds created chances "time and time" again. They had 3 shots on goal and their expected goals was 0.32, the 2nd worst in the division.

He made some interesting observations, but I don't think he highlighted anything we need to worry about. Some sloppy play on our part and some excellent play and touches at times from Leeds that they probably won't repeat again.

The reaction to this match reminds me a bit of the start of last year when our back line was 'too high' and teams were getting in too easily, despite the fact most were called offside and the defence were actually doing their jobs. It's a risky strategy and when players aren't 100% can look calamitous, but there is no doubt our defensive record will be one of the best in the league again this year.

If Virgil hadn't tried his hello sailor backflick we'd have won 4-2 and it would have been a nice start. Can't legislate for those.

Agree leeds still only managed the three shots but it was more about the tactical movement and grouping of their players to receive the ball from their playmaker so he had options, with leeds going longer so bypassing our midfield and pushing our fullbacks deeper.
Others will be watching this and it will be used by others for sure.

As I said previously, I hope they do.

Their first goal, their player (Harrison?) receives the ball wide left, centre of the park and had a worldie first touch to get past Trent. Trent then had at least 2 further opportunities to take him out and Gomez could easily have intercepted, but they didn't. Alisson was poor too. This was not a dangerous move and won't happen again this season.

Second goal was a long ball over the top, posing no threat at all, which is why Virg was so complacent. Again, not a dangerous position.

Third goal started from our throw in, had poor defending throughout, but still needed a couple of top class touches and finish to go in (and Alisson should have did better again). Can't see this happening too often.

On another day, Mane will not be be as poor, Bobby does better with his chances, Alisson makes a save, the midfield closes down better and VAR works properly and VVD's second goal is allowed. We could have hammered Leeds, but in the long run how this match played out might work to our advantage.
