All you have to do now is catch up on the last 75 years and you'll be sorted!
        Really?

Talk on social media about Madrid lining him up as a free transfer next summer...
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

How does the club work this situation.

It’s difficult to force him out and make him leave now if he doesn’t want to go now. Can they afford to bring in a replacement if he doesn’t sign a new deal and tell him he won’t play or only in an emergency and make him 4th choice and maybe force him to move now.

Do they sell one of Quansah or Gomez who are both potentially for sale anyway and use that money plus more for his replacement and have Konate as the back up and tell him that’s his role and maybe force a move out but then you have to buy two new CB’s.

Or could they afford to sell him now on the cheap making sure they do get some money and use that plus more for a replacement. This one might be difficult because the buying club would still have to pay. Would you sell now for £20 million to make sure you get something.

Any other ways to go about it? Just let him see out his contract and play him as normal as there isn’t much else you can do. Annoying situation but the player really does have most of the power.

It's a WC year so threatening to not play him if he doesn't either sign a contract or leave this summer is one card the club could consider playing. He would probably would think it's a bluff but could he afford to take the risk?

This is personal. Madrid identify us as a serious threat and this is how they plan to weaken us

If he refuses to extend then we sign his replacement now and use this season to bed him in. If he forces Konate out of the team, even better. We can’t sell Konate against his will but if he doesn’t want to be here we can try to ensure he loses his place, on merit, to someone who does.

No, not personal. We have very good players but don’t have oil wealth and don’t try to cheat the rules. Or it could be they’ve realised how **** Trent’s defending is and need Konate to cover for him.

Real don’t seem to have a “no dickheads” rule so that will continue to hinder them somewhat. On paper they were quite a bit stronger last season than Barca but finished behind them. I didn’t watch either of the recent England games but saw a story in the I paper where Tuchel was defending Bellingham but saying even his mum didn’t like how Jude behaved with his own teammates.

I'm not too concerned, Edwards and Hughes will take no ****. If he doesn't want to commit to us, I'd get rid, or at least make him aware that we're not prepared to pick a player who is not commited to the cause.

Personally, I feel he has more to lose than we do. We're not the Liverpool who couldn't keep hold of Suarez, we're not the Liverpool that McManaman or Owen left, nor are we a Dortmund or PSG (of a few years ago), we are could be going into next season as arguably the best team in Europe, favourites for the league, potentially favourites for CL. We could make history next year, so would he throw away his opportunity to be an integral part of that, potentially blow his chances of making France squad, at the very least, having a starting place in it, all in the hope that Madrid still want or need him in 12 months time? Seems like a huge and unnecessary gamble to me.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Do what Trent sgould have done. Sign the Extension but with a real madrid Buy out clause in it.

50m Buy out clause for RM. Performs well this season, RM get a bargain we still get 50m.

Performs **** and he wont be moving.

Think it was a bit of a perfect storm for Trent too. Klopp's loyalty, Edwards leaving, Ward and Schmadtke coming and going, Klopp leaving. The only wrinkle was Slott coming in and winning the league after Trent declared that his only motivation is to win trophies.

Can the club afford to buy another CB and just let Konate sit out and not play though. It would be good to send a message but it could be an expensive one. All the talk is after the three new players come in that the next purchases need to be funded by sales. Best case sell Quansah and use that money for a CB to take Konate’s place and make Konate the back up. Puts pressure on him but the club would still be in a strong position.

Either way if he signs a new deal and stays or leaves the next CB we buy needs to have the ability to be the next leader of the defence as none of the current lot look like they could take over when VVD goes.
