In many of those games he has superb and I remember him shining in a particular run of games last season. But he is 20 and is still learning the game so will blow hot and cold. I just checked Transfermarket and in Gerrard’s first two seasons he played 43 games and had 1 goal and one assist........

I’m not saying Curtis will be anything like him or even Foden but for a player of his age he is doing superbly well in a side that challenges for the league and champions league. I still believe that in 4/5 years he’ll be in of the best midfielders in the EPL
Fair points, he is young and maybe I'm being a bit harsh. He also hasn't benefitted from a year on loan so he's very much learning on the job in a very difficult midfield role in terms of responsibility.

Foden can concentrate on attacking play whereas Jones has more defensive and positional responsibility. That is often the area of the game that takes the most time to develop. I don't think you can really try to make the comparison between the two.

To be fair similar ages and both English midfielders so there's bound to be comparisons.

Elliot is nowhere near Foden's level at the moment if we honest. I really like Bellingham, looks a real talent but again not at Foden's level imo. Foden is producing against the best clubs & in the biggest games.

Foden is a genuine candidate for best player in the world in 5/6 years - as you said he is putting up massive numbers at the highest level of the game

Needs to sort his hair out though

Foden has 3 years development on Bellingham though.

18 year old Bellingham is well ahead of where Foden was at 18.

At this age so much depends on the environment around them - Pep managed Foden’s minutes really well and now he is a mainstay in the team. Bellingham seems to have made all the right decisions so far but his next move will be critical - he needs to go where he starts but is not overplayed.

Sancho was progressing perfectly at BvB but so far his time at United has been ****e - he was clearly driven by money as opposed to the overall footballing structure. I guess a new manager with a clue will improve that situation.

Of course but I never said Bellingham won't be where Foden is in 3 years time. Just responding to the previous post that currently Elliot and Bellingham are nowhere near where Phil Foden is at the moment

                          Bench looks a bit lightweight.

I wonder where we will be with Thiago at the end of the season. Reminds of when Jari finally signed, obvious class, but not quite clicking

I thought maybe Tsimikas has shown enough to displace Robertson during his dip in form. I don't know if it sends the best message to future targets, that our established starting players are so irreplacable. Nor to our current starters, if they think their spots are automatically guaranteed regardless of their performance.

But this is a tough oponent and maybe not the best time for experimenting too much, and Robertson is a great voice on the pitch still. Hopefully we get these cunts with an unexpected 4-0.
