hate to make comparisons to mr. ferguson but he had off years when he had to rebuild. was thinking about it today--can anyone think of a player they missed out on because united went a couple of years without challenging for anything?

if i were a young midfielder i'd look at our side and know that it has a gaping hole in my position and has been a heavyweight otherwise for years now. how many of the top, top teams in europe can a young midfielder just walk into? we have space for two or three, if you were at that stage where you were ready to take the last step, you'd fancy it.

I'd sell the entire squad before sacking Klopp.

Over-entitled, massive ego, zero ****s given and thats just Salah.

**** them all off and start again.

Are we blaming the players then? One or two having bad season I'd agree, but as they've all turned to ****e only the manager and coaching team can answer why.

The guy is amazing, but this is on Klopp.

This is on the club and it is not like it hasn't happened before and for exactly the same reason. The absolute refusal to address overt squad defiencies in a summer window. There is no way that this team is going to go on a miraculous run like before, they simply don't have the same guts and character. I watched yesterday's highlights this morning and it was one of the worst games in recent years I have seen. If they don't grow a backbone Madrid could give us an historic humiliation.

The mentality monsters have disappeared; no coincidence the best 2 performances were against City this season; they appear to be able to get themselves up for the big games, but struggle for the rest....... thats peak Liverpool Mid 90's !!!

                    Those were frustrating times
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

In 9th, 7 points behind Newcastle in 4th and 5 behind Spurs in 5th. From that point of view it isn't inconceivable that we could make the top 4 with half the season left. The problem is performances are abysmal and in that regard we don't really look like scoring and look like conceding **** loads. We need to sort it out and turn around our form soon, you feel we need to put a long run of results together and start real soon. I know fixing midfield doesn't fix everything but it would be a massive improvement. I think we need to sign someone in this window, but don't see it happening. If that is the case we need to patch something together to get results like we did with Phillips and Williams in defence a couple of years back.

We're playing so badly even Everton getting relegated wouldn't cheer me up

100% its the players. Majority of them dont even press. When the opponent has the ball they just there there. Pretty sure in training they arent being told to stand like idiots till the other team moves their players around for a better attack. Klopp would clap and cheer everytime a player barged someone or tackled them. They arent doing it now and letting the other teams run rampant. And seriously, not being able to pass in a straight line is also on them.

It’s seems everyone has their own opinion for the root cause of the current issues so let’s have a recap:

                            - It’s the mental fatigue after going so close with the quadruple and only just missing out.

                            - It’s just bad luck with injuries

                            - It’s on the owners for not buying a midfielder

                            - It’s on the owners for not competing financially with the oil clubs

                            - It’s the players, they’ve downed tools.

                            - Its Klopps fault, it’s his tactics and he’s now lost the players.

                            - It’s all Pep Linders and his pesky book

                            Anymore for anymore?

Perhaps it's a bit of all of that

The squad has stagnated, particularly in midfield and now the players can no longer cope with the demands of the playing style.

The man who played an integral role in building the squad has gone. His successor is already leaving too. Several others of the analytics/recruitment team have left/are leaving.

There’s been indications over the past couple of years that we’ve been deviating from our successful recruitment process.

The glut of departures points to upheaval behind the scenes. I think there were disagreements over a succession strategy for the squad. The data guys lost, or weren’t being listened to and so are getting out.

The structure that was such a huge part of our success is gone.
